We stayed in the residence-type room and it was perfect for our family trip. The room was very big, giving everyone plenty of space, and it felt more like an apartment than a standard hotel room. It was clean, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Mango Hotel for families looking for a spacious and convenient place to stay. Used automated check in and out service hence can’t realky review the service."

"The service from everyone in the hotel was very kind and wonderful! The breakfast was delicious, and the service was more than worth the price. However, I felt that there were not enough amenities for women. I also had to borrow a mobile phone charger from the front desk. Other than those two points, I was very satisfied (^^)"

"You get to experience a tatami room here. I'm not sure about the soundproofing; the rooms are separated by just one wooden door. If you're looking for a room like those in Japanese dramas, this is it. It's a bit old, but it feels like visiting grandma's house. However, since it's a tatami room, it's a bit cold. Maybe that's why they provided thick blankets, and with those, sleeping wasn't an issue!
Oh, and the bathroom only had hand soap and shampoo! I brought my own, so I didn't ask for more, so I'm not sure if there usually isn't anything else."

"立地は橘通の飲み屋街から歩いて10分程度。
バスでも橘通り2丁目のバス停から歩いて数分です。
レセプションの方はやり取りも丁寧で、サービスがとても良かったです。
お部屋は普通のビジネスホテル。
アメニティは部屋にはないので、歯ブラシなどはフロントで取っていかなくてはなりません。
部屋の清潔度は綺麗でしたが、小さな蜘蛛がベッドの上にいたのだけが気になったくらいです。
また宮崎に行ったときは宿泊させていただきます。"

Mei OFriendly staff and clean lodging.
We booked half board which was worthwhile as the food quality was great and especially when restaurants close early within the area, saved us looking for dinner. However, there are a few time slots we need to abide to, which is fine as attractions usually are closed by late afternoon anyway.
There is onsen in this accommodation, but it's not big. Enclosed onsen with no external views, and the water has some medical component added thus making the water reddish which may deter guests not accustomed to the color.
The Ryokan location is convenient for walking to a few attractions (for those who enjoy walking about 15-30mins to either attraction), which include Takachiho Kagura performance (pre-booking required), Takachiho Gorge, Takachiho Amaterasu Railway - scenic train ride.
Do note the train rides cannot be pre-booked, and end by 3PM in the afternoon.
And Takachiho Gorge Boat Rental should be pre-booked, with time slot bookings open 7 days before.

Amazing view and quiet. Super clean and well managed. Feels like camping with a real bed. Or a retreat.
Bathroom is shared but extremely clean.
I thought it would be more noisy on weekends but surprisingly it wasn't.
If you are walking it's an hour away from the JR station.
Food options are rare closeby, but you can use a fridge and microwave.

BZSNP1. The hotel is located on a mountain and is difficult to reach by public transportation. It is not recommended to stay if you are not driving by yourself. There are ample parking spaces.
2. The room is a simple B&B with ok sanitary conditions and not many facilities. It requires a shared bathroom/kitchen/non-disposable slippers (this is something I personally care about)
3. There are not too many services. When you check in, ring the bell at the door and the front desk will come to help carry your luggage and provide a brief introduction.
4. The hotel has a nice view. You can watch the sunrise and sunset. It seems you can also surf?
5. It is recommended to finish your meal or bring your own ingredients for cooking. There are no restaurants or convenience stores nearby.

You check in at the office and get assigned a cabin in the complex. The roads look a bit tight but you can get to them in a small car and careful driving. Got given a discount ticket to a nearby local bath which was nice. Great view from the cabin I had.
