Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall: A City Scroll, a Thousand-Year Epic Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, located on the southeast side of Tiananmen Square, is like a three-dimensional history book, waiting for people to read and appreciate. Entering the exhibition hall, the first thing that catches your eye is the "Beijing Bay" bronze sculpture, which realistically reproduces the geographical environment of Beijing's small plain surrounded by mountains on three sides and shaped like a bay at a scale of 1:60,000, giving people an intuitive understanding of Beijing's topography. Going up the escalator, the bronze relief of "Old Beijing" on the second floor is shocking. The 1:1000 scale and nearly 10 tons of bronze relief vividly show the overall pattern and characteristics of Beijing in 1949, and every detail tells the story of the old times. Coming to the third floor, this is one of the core areas of the exhibition hall. The huge Beijing urban planning model is the largest in the world, showing the city features within the Fourth Ring Road and the Fifth Ring Road of Beijing at a scale of 1:750. Standing in front of the model, it's like having a pair of "God's eyes". You can see the Forbidden City, the Bird's Nest, the CCTV building and other iconic buildings. You can easily find the places you are familiar with and feel the grandeur and exquisiteness of this city. The wooden model of the Forbidden City next to it is no less impressive. With a scale of 1:200, every brick, tile, beam and pillar of the Forbidden City are meticulously portrayed, which makes people can't help but be impressed by the exquisite ancient architectural craftsmanship. The multimedia theater on the fourth floor is a good place to relax and immerse yourself in the charm of Beijing. Films such as "Immortal City" and "The Great Changes of the Ancient Capital" tell the historical changes and urban development of Beijing through wonderful pictures and vivid explanations, allowing the audience to appreciate the thousand-year splendor of this city in just half an hour. In addition, there is also a photography exhibition of the industrialization era in the museum. A series of exquisite photos capture the light and shadow moments of Beijing in different periods, showing the unique charm of the city. In addition to these fixed exhibitions, the exhibition hall will also hold various temporary exhibitions from time to time to bring more diverse and richer experiences to the audience. Whether you are a tourist interested in Beijing's history and culture, a citizen curious about the city's planning and development, or an international friend who wants to learn about the changes in China's capital, the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall is an excellent choice. Here, you can travel through time and space, feel Beijing's past, present and future, and appreciate the city's unique charm and infinite possibilities.
Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall is located in Beijing, on the east side of the north entrance of Qianmen Pedestrian Street, next to the Railway Museum. Admission is free, and you need to scan the health code in the courtyard of the exhibition hall.
The Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, located on Qianmen East Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing (east of the old Beijing Railway Station), was renovated from the original building. The renovated exhibition hall is divided into 4 floors, which introduce and display Beijing's long history and the great achievements of the capital's urban planning and construction in the form of display boards, light boxes, models, pictures, sculptures, and 3D movies. The Beijing Urban Planning Exhibition Area mainly includes an introduction to Beijing's previous master plans; Beijing's "District and County Planning and Construction Exhibition"; Beijing's urban transportation, environmental protection, water affairs, building energy conservation and other special exhibition areas and Beijing Olympic venues planning and construction exhibition areas. It reviews and introduces the formulation and adjustment of Beijing's master plan in various periods after the founding of New China. It introduces the planning and construction of various districts and counties in Beijing and their development goals. Guided by the concept of sustainable development, it comprehensively introduces and displays the history, current situation and bright future prospects of the development of transportation, environmental protection, building energy conservation and water affairs in Beijing, the capital of China.
Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall was rebuilt from the Qianmen Commercial Building, which was once very popular in Beijing. It has a unique geographical location. It focuses on the history of Beijing's urban planning development, Beijing's historical and cultural city, the planning and construction of Olympic venues, the planning and construction of human settlements, the planning and construction of the ecological environment, the planning and construction of urban infrastructure, the planning and construction of transportation, the planning and construction of business and finance, and the development planning of Beijing's humanities and social undertakings. The exhibition hall is large in area and has a large amount of information on display, which is worth a visit.
After lunch, we arrived at the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall. The all-glass transparent exterior looked very tall. The exhibition hall has four floors. There is no regular exhibition area on the first floor, only some sculpture exhibits. According to my visiting habits, I took the elevator directly to the fourth floor to start the visit. On the fourth floor, I first visited the Beijing transportation exhibition area, followed by the environmental protection, water affairs, energy conservation special exhibition area and the Beijing Olympic venue planning and construction exhibition area, showing how to become a low-carbon ecological city. There is also a multimedia theater on the fourth floor. It is said that there are several 4D movies, but I didn’t see it. The video in the middle hall is played according to the time period, and you can also overlook the urban planning model on the third floor. When I got to the third floor, I went straight to the urban planning model. The exhibition area on the third floor mainly looked at the history of Beijing. I only knew that the Forbidden City in Beijing was very large, but I never had a rough feeling of how big it was. The solid wood model of the Forbidden City was really super shocking, and I could feel the grandeur of the Forbidden City. In the Beijing History Photo Exhibition on the map, I also saw a brief list of Beijing’s historical names. The last thing I saw on the second floor was the Beijing Urban Master Plan Achievement Exhibition, which lasted until 2035.
