It belongs to the Jundu Mountain System. The main peak is 2,241 meters above sea level, the second highest peak in Beijing and the highest peak in Yanqing District. In 2009, Haituo Mountain was selected as one of the top ten "non-famous peaks" in China by the Institute of Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences and China National Geographic Magazine. It has become a place that mountaineering enthusiasts across the country yearn for. Haituo Mountain is located outside Badaling in the northwest of Beijing, at the junction of the northern part of Zhangshanying Town, Yanqing District and Chicheng County, Hebei Province, about 18 kilometers from Yanqing City and 130 kilometers from Beijing. In the process of understanding Venet's works, I found that his artistic concept has a unique source. In 1970, he accidentally saw an article by semiotician Jacques Bertin in the magazine "Communication", which became an important opportunity for the development of his artistic concept. From that article, he discovered the concept of "univocity". This concept is very subtle. It is not only about communication efficiency, but more importantly, each element and symbol has a predetermined unique meaning, referring to the self itself. Bertin's communication concept of efficiency first and his view of instant appreciation of images are similar to Venet's, which gave Venet a deeper understanding of new themes and figurative descriptions. One of the works that impressed me most is "Performance in the Garbage Dump" (1961). With his lowered head, closed eyes and stretched body, the whole picture is full of Caravaggio-style religious colors. His Christ-like composition is obviously well thought out, and this is not a casual performance. From this picture, we can feel a kind of drama of survival. He seems to show weakness and the approach of death in the garbage and decay. We don't know whether he is dreaming, sleeping or resting, but this expression of garbage equating with death is very powerful and a profound interpretation of the human condition.
