Grand City Hotel

Position side of this hotel is, it is situated on nice location -Tahrir Square. Building is very old and no one will like the entrance at the ground floor as area is not clean - dust, garbage. Elevator is very old. No lift man or any one to help to go up for the first time. So, I needed to climb up to 7th floor with stair case. They provided a big room. But, furniture of the room need maintenance. No complimentary drinking water. I booked the room with breakfast. but, they can only serve breakfast after 9 AM as they buy from local shops. We would not stay on this hotel in future.
Castle Hostel

Castle Hotel is the best place to discover Cairo! It felt like home to me. I was in 8 different hotels in Cairo on my tour: castle hotel is my family and my choice no1 now. I know where to go to on future trips. Castle Hotel :) The hotel is located in the 16th floor, so you have the best view you can find. You can see so far. You can the city, the Nile, a little bit of a pyramid. Best traffic connection because ramses street. Shops 1 minute walk. Abu tarek koshari 5 minute walk, river Nile 5 minute walk. The staff is amazing. Friendly, always willing to help, welcoming, discrete. It’s a very nice vibe up there. The sounds of the city far away. Very relaxing. Next time I book an extra night just to enjoy the view. It’s just vibrant there and you feel the energy of the city. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you for everything! See you!
Cleopatra Hotel

General impression - a normal place to stay for a few nights. Perfect location nearby Egyptian Museum and the Sadat subway station. But this causes a very noisy surrounding: honking cars move just beneath the windows all day long. Helpful staff. A very nice cafe La Poire accessible without leaving the building. Good breakfast, a lot of options changing daily. Coffee could have been better though. The room was cleaned (I moved two beds together and found no dust underneath), but it's quite weary. The window lock didn't work, the fridge was loud. Black mold in the shower was upsetting, too. No iron nor ironing board in the room, but ironing service available at a reasonable price about 50 EGP per piece.
The President Hotel Cairo
4/577 Reviews
With a couple of friends, we stayed at the President Hotel in October for a total of 3 nights, the hotel in itself was a major success, despite being quite low key online. The neighborhood it's located in is very secure and calm, Zamalek overall is a nice part of the city, with many places to visit, and cute hidden gems. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and well-maintained; and the room-service was excellent. If there was one thing to be brought up as a downside, it would definitely be the Pyramids tour we had the misfortune of going through with the agency they work with. However, after having reported the horrendous experience we went through to the reception, our complaint was taken seriously immediately and the hotel managed a partial 45% refund of the money paid and apologized continuously for the inconvenience; kudos to Ahmad at the reception.
1920s Boutique Hotel and Restaurants
4.2/545 Reviews
A gem of a small boutique hotel in a great location & good area. Rooms are unique & although the building old the bathroom modern & the beds very comfortable. Great service & very attentive & helpful staff. There are several restaurants within the hotel, offering a diverse option of cuisines. Breakfast is served in the Carlos restaurant & excellent. My only criticism, after enjoying one cocktail & making the decision to come back & eat later, they charged all of the service & local taxes but worse a cover charge. This small incident left me a bit annoyed & needless to say, I didn't go back to eat. Other than this small thing I had a lovely experience staying here & would highly recommend.
Tahrir Plaza Suites - Museum View

Tahir Plaza is a very unusual budget hotel. Dora and Marcelino go waaay beyond what you might expect from a budget place and their genuine kindness and desire to please is reflected in the tours they arrange with guide Ashour (who we used). The rooms are divided over two floors, the second and fourth. We had Amun room on the fourth floor which was MASSIVE and had a balcony. It was scrupulously clean - I spotted them ironing the bedsheets whilst they were already on the bed which I’d attention to detail isn’t it! The building itself (away from hotel area) would be a kindness to call shabby and doesn’t form a great opinion when first arriving at the building. The hotel rooms are clean, high ceilinged and beautiful though and offer real value for money. We spent the money we saved by staying here on private tours arranged by the hotel - omg you must try them! Go to Wadi Al Hitan desert and see fossilised whales in the sand, have breakfast in the middle of the desert with fossilised sea shells shimmering around you (30 million years ago, the desert was the bottom of the sea). Ishmael the Bedouin will zoom the 4 wheel drive up and down sand dunes whilst blasting out Arabic trance style music….later, swim in magic lake! Thats all one trip! We had the best time ever at Tahir plaza thank you Dora and Marcelino!

The Square Boutique Hotel

It was a very pleasant stay. It's very small place on forth floor for 200 years old building. Arhitecture is astonishing for those ones who appreciates old, high ceiling buildings. Breakfast was very tasty and stuff is highly pleasant, friendly and helpful. Place is very clean and tidy. However room was very small and bathroom was so tiny, plus weight person won't be able to use it. Overall great stay, great location and experience.
