Hailing Island, formerly known as Luozhou, is located in the northern waters of the South China Sea, southwest of Jiangcheng District, Yangjiang City, 20 kilometers from downtown. It is 23 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide.
Hailing Island has a total land area of 108.9 square kilometers, making it the largest island in Yangjiang City.
Hailing Island boasts over ten scenic coastal tourist attractions, including the Taifu Temple, Linggu Temple, the Ancient Fort, the Zhenhai Pavilion, and the Guanyin Pavilion.
In January 2001, Dajiao Bay on Hailing Island was designated a National 4A Scenic Area by the National Tourism Administration, becoming the only national-level coastal tourist area in Guangdong Province.
As Guangdong's fourth-largest island, Hailing Island's tertiary industry is primarily based on tourism, making it one of the earliest areas in Guangdong to develop coastal tourism. After more than two decades of development and construction, the island has seen rapid economic and social growth, earning it numerous national honors, including National Blue Tourism Demonstration Base, China's Top Ten Treasure Islands, China's Top Ten Beautiful Islands, National Marine Park, National Mangrove Wetland Park, National Central Fishing Port, and National Underwater Archaeology Base. In 2016, it was included in the State Council's 13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Island Tourism Destination. In 2020, it was designated as one of the third batch of Guangdong Province's All-Area Tourism Demonstration Zones.
In June 2023, Hailing Island was selected for inclusion in the national list of "Harmonious Islands."
