Yangon Chinatown

Yangon's Chinatown has a history of hundreds of years, gathering about 150,000 local Chinese and overseas Chinese. The scene on the street looks a bit like China in the 1960s, and the old and simple tones make people imagine. The century-old Guanyin Temple (known locally as Guangdong Temple) is a popular gathering place for tourists. During the day, there is a lot of traffic in front of the temple, and the inside of the temple is crowded and very lively. Visitors can come here to chat with the temple guards about their hometown. When the lights are on, the sidewalk in front of the temple becomes a night market selling watermelon, small oranges, big durians and other fruits and clothes. In addition to numerous small commodity stores and snack bars, Chinatown also has Chinese ancestral halls and temples. Many Chinese have opened restaurants here, and Chinese food such as dumplings and ramen is readily available. Tourists who love Chinese food can eat more authentic Chinese food here.Kyauktada · 1.4km from downtown

St. Mary's Cathedral in Yangon was built in 1895. It is a neo-Gothic style building. It is the largest Catholic church in Yangon. Many British priests have preached here. Although the exterior of the church is made of red brick and stone, with two minarets, it looks very eye-catching and very Western, but the soaring arcades and colorful decorations inside combine a variety of Southeast Asian elements, which together give people a solemn, Elegant feel.Botataung · 1.6km from downtown

The World Peace Pagoda, located on the Sri Bengalo Hill, 11 kilometers east of Yangon, Myanmar, is one of the famous Buddhist pagodas in Myanmar. "Sri" means "Supreme" in Pali, and "Bengali" means "auspicious", so the World Peace Pagoda is also called "Supreme Auspicious Dagan World Peace Pagoda". The history of the World Peace Pagoda is not very long, only 60 years old. Among the many temples in Myanmar, it can be regarded as a relatively young one. The pagoda was built in 1952 for the 6th World Buddhist Congress held in Yangon in 1954. The tower is 36 meters high, more than 90 meters in circumference, and the tower is hollow. The whole tower has 6 gates, and each entrance is enshrined with a huge ancestor statue, which symbolizes the sixth gathering of Buddhist scriptures. There are 28 Buddha statues on the cylindrical shrine in the tower. There is a Buddhist Art Museum in the World Peace Pagoda, which has a wide range of Buddhist statues, Buddhist scriptures, ancient bells and Buddhist utensils from all over the world. It is an important place of Buddhist culture in Myanmar and a local hot spot.Mayangon · 4.1km from downtown

The Burmese Ethnic Village is located in the outskirts of Yangon. The small park contains miniature models of most of the famous scenic spots in Myanmar. Although Myanmar is a small country, it has many ethnic groups, with more than 1,300 ethnic groups. In the ethnic villages of Myanmar, some of the cultural and craft characteristics of these ethnic groups are recorded. The ethnic village is not big, and the condensed versions of the well-known scenic spots in various cities in Myanmar are scattered everywhere. The very good vegetation coverage echoes the clear lake water, which is very local. In addition, there is an ethnic handicraft shop in the park, where you can experience Burmese clothing and buy handicraft souvenirs again.Botataung · 6.5km from downtown

The Joshua Synagogue in Musmea was built in 1893. It is the only synagogue in Myanmar and has thus become the venue for various historic meetings of important political figures from Myanmar, the United States and Israel. The synagogue displays many historical photos of local Judaism. Not every place in the synagogue can be visited, and some areas require permission from the staff to enter.Kyauktada · 1.4km from downtown

The last royal mausoleum of India is the tomb of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the Indian king who ruled Myanmar in the 18th century. The man was later expelled by the British colonists and exiled to Yangon, where he lived for a long time until his death, so his coffin is still in the back. Guang, the Burmese people are very sympathetic to the misfortune he suffered, and there are not a few people who came to pay homage to him.Yangon · 1.1km from downtown

In the early days of Buddhism, there were four cultivation methods, namely body mindfulness, receiving mindfulness, mind mindfulness and Dharma mindfulness. Emotions are transformed into positive emotions. The accommodation in the meditation center has double rooms and single rooms. Men have a public bathroom, and women have a bathroom. Meals are served with meat and vegetables, and there are fruits after meals.Yangon · 22.3km from downtown

Aung San Market mainly sells cultural relics, jewelry, jade, wood carvings, ethnic costumes, etc. I didn't see many people inside, probably because of the situation in Myanmar, but I still saw a wide variety of goods, and the locals were friendly. If you are not interested in these goods, an hour of sightseeing is enough.

St. Mary's Cathedral in Yangon is a huge foreign-style church. It seems to be a building built during the colonial period. The environment of the entire church is quite elegant. Here you can see many religious decorations, layouts and design styles.

The Yangon Ten Thousand Grottoes is located in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar. It is also called the "Emerald Mountain" because its exterior is covered with jadeite raw stones. The interior of the temple is also magnificent and can be visited when there are no religious activities.

The Musmiya Joshua Synagogue is the only synagogue in Myanmar. It is very quiet inside and not many people come. Most of them are Jews. If you have time, you can come and have a look and experience it. Be quiet and don't disturb others.

This is a beautiful place. Very well preserved and well designed. Behind its beauty, each grave tells a sad and somber story, adding another dimension to the visitor's feelings and emotions. Pictures cannot tell the full story. One must come here to experience it in person. It is quite a distance from the city, so I am not sure if it is worth a special visit unless you are a veteran. However, for those traveling north from the city, it is worth spending about half an hour to stop here. But be aware that there are no restrooms, so plan accordingly. Do take the time to read some of the stories, it will be worth your time.
