Tianwangzhai Scenic Area

It is located in Taibaiding Attraction of Tongbai Mountain in Sui County, on Gucheng Mountain, the second highest peak of Tongbai Mountain, with an altitude of 1,080 meters. It is backed by Gucheng Mountain to the north, and has cliffs on the east, south and west. The terrain is dangerous and easy to defend but difficult to attack. According to historical records, it was first built in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty (1204 AD), more than 800 years ago. At that time, in order to resist the invasion of the Yuan army, farmers surnamed Tian from Tongbai Mountain gathered to revolt and called themselves Tian Wang. They set up a camp in Gucheng Mountain, raised soldiers and generals, trained soldiers, and stored grass and grain. The village city was built with blocks of stone along the mountain, surrounded by nine hilltops, and the wall of the village was undulating, like the Great Wall. The area inside the village is about 1.5 square kilometers. There is a high-water spring pool, named Yinma Pool, which is inexhaustible. There is a hole like the moon on the cliff of thousands of feet in the east, named Yueer Rock; there is a drum platform in the northeast, with huge rocks standing obliquely and leaning out of the village; there is Yingzizui in the west, like a giant eagle spreading its wings in the sky. There are Dongxu Peak, Lianhua Peak, Xixia Peak, Feiyun Peak and so on in the east, like stars holding the moon. The horse ranch in Nanshan was built by Tian Wang to raise war horses. As an ancient battlefield, Tianwangzhai was in a commanding position when sending out troops and was impregnable when retreating, until it was breached by the Yuan army. In the fourth year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1854 AD), the village was expanded and reinforced, and renamed Anhezhai, which could accommodate thousands of troops. There are now hundreds of house ruins. There are seven gates, including the East Gate, the Great West Gate, the Small West Gate, the Great South Gate, the Small South Gate, the North Gate, and the Great North Gate. The South Gate is the main gate with an urn city, which is the main passage into the village and an important line of defense against the enemy. There are five military camps in the east, west, south, north, and center, and four outposts outside. There is a beacon tower 150 meters outside the South Gate, also known as the Sifang City, which is the first outpost. The "Silver Palace" (now only the ruins) was built on the main peak. After the expansion, the wall of Tianwangzhai is tens of kilometers long. Today, the smoke of war has long since dissipated in Tianwangzhai, but the ruins still exist. The incomplete walls and fortress walls, although not as majestic as they once were, bear witness to the vicissitudes of history and the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation. The site is large in scale and has certain academic value. It is one of the best-preserved ancient military fortresses in central China.

The Three Gorges Dam Tourism Area

4.7/5

The Three Gorges Dam Tourism Area is located in the Xiling Gorge section of the Yangtze River in Yichang, Hubei. It is a scenic attraction built around the Three Gorges hydro project, covering over ten square kilometers. Currently, it offers travelers three viewing spots: Tanzi Ridge, the 185 viewing platform, and the river closure memorial park. The dam crest itself is not open to travelers, so visits primarily revolve around these three attractions. Tanzi Ridge is the highest accessible point in the dam area, named for its jar-shaped summit viewing platform resembling an overturned jar. It also served as the survey site for the dam's initial location selection. From the ridge top, visitors can overlook the Three Gorges Project in its entirety—the dam, power station, and twin five-level ship locks are all visible. The five lock chambers cascade down the mountainside, earning the nickname "Fourth Gorge of the Yangtze." The park displays engineering artifacts like ancient riverbed stones, river closure rocks, and foundation stones from the dam site, complemented by model exhibits that help visitors intuitively understand the origins and development of this mega-project. The 185 observation platform is located on the left bank of the dam. It gets its name from sharing the same elevation of 185 m as the dam crest. Standing on the platform feels like being atop the dam: on one side, the dam and vertical ship lift are within close reach, offering a chance to witness ships "riding the elevator" over the dam; on the other side lies the vast, tranquil reservoir upstream. The stark contrast between the stillness above and the dynamism below the dam is striking. The closure memorial park is situated on the right bank downstream of the dam, preserving artifacts like tetrahedral closure stones and large loading machinery used during the construction. It's an ideal spot to view the dam's full frontal grandeur. During flood seasons when the dam releases water, torrents rush out from the deep outlets, creating towering mist and thunderous echoes that reverberate through the valley—a truly awe-inspiring spectacle. The three attractions are far apart, and the scenic area provides shuttle buses for transportation. It is recommended to reserve half a day to visit them in order.

The buildings are magnificent, the environment is beautiful, and the cultural heritage is rich. The eight great achievements of Emperor Yan are described in detail. The park is of moderate size, easy to walk in, has a high forest coverage, and there is a chrysanthemum exhibition in the park. The park is clean, tidy, and comfortable.

I was hesitant about visiting Dahong Mountain after arriving in Suizhou. The ticket price was quite expensive, and there weren't many buses from downtown Suizhou. However, after arriving, I found it to be quite good. The transportation service within the scenic area was excellent; each point was about a 30-minute walk away, so it wasn't tiring.

The children like it very much. The park is not very big, but there are still many entertainment facilities to play with. It is okay to bring children to play. The Daughter Kingdom Hot Spring in the park is very good, with many pools and good service attitude!

Stepping into the Zenghouyi Tomb ruins, the rammed earth beneath your feet bears a thousand years of history, while the massive coffin chamber before you radiates the grandeur of the Warring States Period. The documentary depicts the excavation of 15,400 artifacts, a truly breathtaking experience. Although the original chime bells have been relocated, the remains still offer a glimpse into the exquisite beauty of their "one bell, two tones." With a tranquil environment and attentive service, history here is no longer abstract, but a tangible echo of civilization.

The Journey to the West rafting cleverly blends elements of the classic novel, bringing the fantastical story into the natural landscape. Carefully arranged "monster" sculptures, water curtain caves, and other scenes along the way make the rafting experience fun and immersive, as if you've stepped into a mythological world. The water flow is designed with both gentle and rapid currents, offering a moderate level of excitement, making it suitable for families or friends to enjoy together. While enjoying the coolness and fun of rafting, you can relive classic scenes, making it a highly themed and creative way to beat the summer heat. Safety measures are in place, making it worth a try.

The renovated Suizhou Museum is an immersive classroom experience in the "Bronze Kingdom." As a national first-class museum, its collection of over 10,000 artifacts is dazzling, with national treasures like the Zenghouyi chime bells striking a chord. Glasses-free 3D and VR technology allow visitors to "travel back to the Warring States Period," while chime bell music and dance performances further highlight the charm of ritual and music civilization. This unforgettable blend of ancient and modern experiences is a true testament to the unforgettable nature of the past and present.

First, the telephone number for consultation was a dead number when I checked it online. I saw the same number on the publicity board of the scenic spot, so I typed "the number you dialed is a dead number" in front of the staff. Second, it is not suitable for people over 50 years old or in poor health to travel here: (1) The small bus can drive to the ancient city on the top of the mountain, but it doesn't drive, so you have to get off halfway and walk this section. The distance is not far, the driving is high and the mountain is steep, it is tiring, very tiring. (2) The starting station of the small bus is too far from the gate, and there are no trees on the road to provide shade, and the skin is sunburned. (3) There are few toilets and they are particularly dirty. It is not a state-owned scenic spot, and it is eager for quick success.

Scenery: Very beautiful, especially on the way from Dahongshan to Lake Biwa. However, there are not many places to visit in Lake Biwa. The main attraction is the lake view. You can take a boat in the scenic area, but the price is really expensive! Such a remote scenic area should not be so expensive! The attitude of the staff is also average. The B&B next to it is not bad, but it is also very expensive during holidays! Average value for money

The excellent tour guide team, the professional Mr. Xiao, and his engaging and infectious eloquence in introducing the Ba culture throughout the trip, coupled with his responsible attitude, made for a joyful and picturesque day for all the tourists. Moreover, there were absolutely no forced purchases – it was truly worthwhile. And today's sunny weather was a truly uplifting day.
