Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark

4.5/5
434 reviews
Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark is located in the Black River District near Chamarel in southwestern Mauritius. It is a rare natural colored sand dune. The debris and volcanic ash left by ancient volcanic activity have weathered over many years in the hot, humid climate. The iron, aluminum, and other minerals they contain have oxidized in varying proportions, gradually creating layers of red, brown, purple, blue, and green bands. These bands spread out along the undulating hills, resembling, from a distance, a piece of colorful silk wrinkled by the wind, cascading down from the lush forest. The sand dune area is small and enclosed by railings and boardwalks. Visitors can walk along the viewing platforms to look down. From different angles, they can see the subtle changes in the direction and intensity of the color bands, which are especially distinct when sunlight shines obliquely. The sand dunes themselves are barren, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding lush vegetation and adding a touch of mystery.Chamarel · 18.2km from Souillac

Baie du Cap is a small headland on the southwest coast of Mauritius that juts into the South Indian Ocean. It is named for its remote location facing the open ocean, as if one has reached the end of the land. The coastal road here makes a sharp U-turn around the giant rock at the tip of the headland. Taking a photo from above the rock, capturing the road and the blue sea in the same frame, is a highly recognizable scene on the southwest coastline. Climb the stone steps to the small observation deck on top of the rock to enjoy the sea breeze, with the deep blue Indian Ocean on one side and the winding coastline on the other. In the evening, this is a great spot to watch the sunset over the sea as the sun slowly sinks into the Indian Ocean on one side of the headland. The beach is also scattered with round reefs of various sizes. At low tide, as seawater flows through the crevices between the rocks, it creates a series of wonderful sounds.Bel Ombre · 15.8km from Souillac

Pont Naturel is located on the southern coast of Mauritius and is a natural stone arch bridge made of black basalt. It is famous for its natural arch structure formed by the long-term erosion of coastal rocks by waves. The dark volcanic rock contrasts with the azure seawater, creating a unique coastal landscape in Mauritius. Waves constantly crash against the rock walls, passing through the underside and crevices of the rocks, creating layers of white spray and showcasing the powerful natural force of the Indian Ocean coast. The view here is affected by tides, wind, and sea conditions, so you may see different wave patterns and seawater colors when visiting at different times.Camp Carol · 15.5km from Souillac

Big Wave Bay is a bay located in the southern part of Mauritius Island. Due to its geographical location, it is easy to form big waves. It is a free 270° large viewing platform. Here, lush tropical forests are close to the coast, and white sandy beaches come and go under the caress of the waves. The bay's water features distinct shades of blue, transitioning from light green near the shore to deep blue, and with its fine white sand, it is a favorite leisure spot for locals. The area is home to a wide variety of coral, including patches of fire coral, table coral, and the famous brain coral. Colorful tropical fish swim among the corals, and you may even encounter sea turtles. The lagoon is shallow and calm, with reefs outside to block the waves, so even snorkeling beginners can safely enter the water in shallow areas just a few meters deep.Pointe d'Esny · 21.8km from Souillac

Totof Tours | Blue Bay Mauritius is a highly popular water activity in southeastern Mauritius. Departing from the public beach at Blue Bay, you will board a glass-bottom boat with transparent viewing windows in the hull and head into Blue Bay Marine Park. This sea area was designated as a protected marine park as early as the 1980s. The lagoon water is clear and shallow, with abundant coral and fish, and is considered the signature spot for snorkeling in the area. You don't need to get into the water during the trip; through the glass bottom beneath your feet, you can see reefs formed by brain coral, staghorn coral, and mushroom coral. Schools of damselfish and chromis swim among the corals, and you may even encounter hawksbill sea turtles that make their home here. The boat operator will also explain the types of coral along the way. The boat will then stop at a snorkeling spot, where you can jump into the shallow water to swim closely with the fish. Masks, snorkels, and other equipment are provided on board, and life jackets are readily available. The lagoon has small waves and shallow water, making it easy for first-time snorkelers and families traveling with children to participate.Pointe d'Esny · 21.5km from Souillac

Chamar Falls is located on the southwest side of Mauritius Island, adjacent to the famous Seven Color Earth Scenic Spot. This is the filming location of the movie "Jurassic Park". While viewing the scene, think of the shock of being in the age of dinosaurs! Chamar Falls is formed by the convergence of two rivers, with a drop of nearly 100 meters, which is equivalent to the height of the Statue of Liberty. In the rainy season from November to April of the following year, two water columns can be seen galloping down. Going to the seven-color soil, after driving into the scenic spot, you must pass this place along the road, and there is a free parking lot on the side. The waterfall has two viewing platforms, one near the parking lot and the other on the hillside, accessible by stone steps. More tourists will choose to take a photo at a higher viewing platform, because there is a full view of the waterfall. Looking around, there are mountains all around, and there are no traces of rivers, lakes and seas, and this clear spring on the top of the mountain is very intriguing.Chamarel · 16.8km from Souillac

The volcanic terrain of Mauritius has created a natural landscape with a low mountain but strange shapes. The seven-colored soil in Chamarel was discovered by a Frenchman who was planting sugarcane fields here. Among the sugarcane fields here, only this piece of land is barren. After geologists went there to develop and study, this magical and magnificent seven-colored soil was revealed to the world.

The Cape of the End of the Earth in Mauritius has many large reefs protruding from the sea on the coastline, forming irregular angles. Some are like natural lighthouses standing on the sea, and some are like two pliers extending deep into the sea. The scenery is very beautiful and worth a visit.

The Natural Bridge is a natural attraction in Mauritius. There is no bus to reach it. The scenery of this attraction is spectacular, and you can see beautiful waves. You can walk on the Natural Bridge, but you have to walk slowly because the road surface is uneven.

Black River Gorges National Park is a very important national park in Mauritius. I came here during the rainy season. Although we couldn’t see far away, it had a different kind of hazy beauty. Because of the rain, there were fewer tourists and the entire national park was our world.

It is also called "Blue Bay" because of its clear blue water. It is about 600 meters long and is a wide beach in Kenting National Park. There are many water activities, including sailing, jet skiing, banana boats, surfing, and other recreational projects. You can also play beach volleyball with friends. It is a famous diving resort. There are various corals, tropical fish, shellfish, sea lilies, etc. along the coast, and the underwater landscape is extremely beautiful.

This place is a bit like a botanical garden + a zoo. The plant part is actually that the entire park is built against the mountain, and many paths are in dense tropical trees and bamboo forests. The environment is very good, allowing you to be in a completely natural environment.

I thought the glass bottom boat in Mauritius was very attractive, but when I got there, I was so amused that I almost died. It was far inferior to the underwater glass boat in Australia. The Mauritius one was at most a fishing boat, but there were two pieces of glass on the bottom so you could see the underwater scenery. That was because of the environment. The scenery you can see from the glass bottom boat is also average, mostly dead corals!

Looking from a distance on the Xiamar Plateau of Heihe Mountains, three waterfalls fall from the cliff, which is very spectacular. This is the first place of Mao Tour and one of the famous scenic spots. The waterfall is hanging on the cliff of a huge stone cave, more than 100 meters high. From a distance, we can see two fine white exercises, swaying with the wind and facing the scene. It really feels like flying down 3,000 feet. The scenery around Shamal Falls is beautiful, and the vegetation is very good.
