Bathe in the morning sun, enjoy a 13-minute aerial walk on the cable car, and the unimaginable and dreamy scenery is presented in front of you. From the Sea of Clouds Observation Deck, you can watch the sea of clouds that are varied but never identical. The Hidaka and Tokachi mountains are rolling, majestic and magnificent. Why not wake up once in the morning, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the morning. Note: Mornings can sometimes be very cold. It is recommended to check the weather forecast beforehand and bring a winter jacket or coat when the temperature drops below 10°C.Shimukappu · 19.5km from Shintoku

This is a church with the theme of "coexistence with nature", designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando. The design of the church makes the church blend with nature. The wedding ceremony seems to be held in the magnificent nature of Hokkaido. The surrounding birch forest and the blue sky and white clouds of Hokkaido are reflected on the lake. The environment is very fresh and it is worth seeing. Water Chapel is a specially designed wedding chapel. It is all made of fair-faced concrete, glass and steel frame materials. It introduces nature into the interior, and at the same time it is an abstract nature, a nature with the color of God, and the scenery is different throughout the year. .Shimukappu · 17.3km from Shintoku

Shirogane Blue Pond (Aoiike)

Shirogane Blue Pond (Aoiike) is an artificial pond created after the eruption of Mount Tokachi, when a dam was built on the Biei River to prevent volcanic mudflow disasters, resulting in the accidental accumulation of water. The trunks of larch and birch trees, which died from long-term submersion, stand in the pond, and the blue-green water reflects the dead trees and the forest. The blue color here is not artificial. After the aluminum-rich spring water from the upstream Shirogane Onsen flows into the Biei River, it mixes with the river water to form invisible colloidal particles. These particles strongly scatter the blue light from the sun, while the white volcanic soil at the bottom of the pond makes the blue appear even more vivid. The blueness of the pond water changes with the weather, time of day, and season. You can take photos from different angles while walking along the trail by the pond. This pond is also widely known for a photograph: a work by photographer Kent Shiraishi featuring the first snow here won an award in the National Geographic Photo Contest and was subsequently selected by Apple as one of the built-in wallpapers for its computer operating system. Every winter, the pond surface freezes and is covered in snow. After nightfall, lights illuminate the dead trees and the ice, presenting a tranquil scene that is completely different from the daytime.Biei · 49.5km from Shintoku

Shirahige Waterfall is a groundwater-fed waterfall on the upper reaches of the Biei River. Groundwater from theMount Tokachimountain range seeps into the ground and emerges from rock crevices halfway up the canyon cliff, cascading down the cliff face in dozens of thin streams. From a distance, it resembles a hanging white beard, which is how it got its name. The ideal viewing spot is the observation deck on the bridge spanning the Biei River. Looking over the railing, the white streams and the blue-green river below are captured in the same frame, creating an iconic composition for this view. Rich in minerals, this section of the river scatters sunlight to create a translucent blue color as it flows toward the hot spring area downstream. The waterfall has different highlights throughout the four seasons: in summer, the mountains are lush and green, making the blue-green river stand out; in fall, the forest is ablaze with color; in winter, the cliffs are covered in snow, creating a striking contrast between the white snow and the blue river. Located adjacent to the hot spring town, it offers visitors a unique natural viewing and photography experience.Biei · 46.8km from Shintoku

From the summit, you can see the entire cityscape of Otaru, and at night, the city lights along the coastline sparkle like jewels. This night view is considered one of Japan's top three nightscapes, alongside the views from Mount Hakodate and Mount Moiwa in Sapporo.Three Major Night Views of Hokkaidois counted as one of them. In winter, Mount Tengu is blanketed in snow, creating a romantic atmosphere. Known as a filming location for the snowy scenes in the movie "Love Letter," it attracts many fans. Breathtaking views from the mountaintop By taking the ropeway with a capacity of about 30 people, you can reach the mountaintop from the base in approximately 5 minutes. At the mountaintop, there is an observation deck offering panoramic views of Otaru's cityscape, Otaru Bay, and Ishikari Bay. On clear days, you can even see the distant mountains and Shakotan Peninsula. Additionally, the following facilities are available at the summit: · Tengukan · Otaru Ski Museum (both offer free admission) There are three observation decks around the ropeway station, each offering a different perspective of Otaru's scenery. The first observation deck is particularly popular as it allows visitors to capture both the cityscape and the ropeway in one shot. Tengu Statue and Power Spot Behind the ropeway station, there is a statue of a tengu with a long nose. It is said that touching this nose will make your wishes come true, making it a popular spot. Nearby, you'll also find the Tenguyama Shrine. The Charm of Nature and the Four Seasons Within the mountains, there is a cherry blossom tree called "Tengu Sakura," where you can enjoy taking photos with the city of Otaru and the sea as your backdrop. Additionally, tulips, German irises, chamomile, and many other flowers adorn the scenery throughout the four seasons. Additionally, at the free "Chipmunk Park," you can purchase food and experience feeding adorable chipmunks. For those who want to enjoy nature, we also recommend the walking path known as the "Mountain Top Forest Bath." This approximately 20-minute stroll may even allow you to encounter wild birds along the way. The Dwarf Chalet is situated near the New Furano Prince Hotel in Nakagoryo, Furano. The wooden cabins are constructed in the forest and linked by the wooden corridor bridge. There is also a connection of small lights that decorate the cabins. There are a diversity of small crafts in the cabins, which are very delicate. Don't be too explicit when you look inside. Try to see through the corner of your eyes. That big stump is the spot where the legendary second generation of dwarfs lived in. There are passages and wooden bridges of the dwarfs build next to it, and coats of dwarfs were basked, which was very cute.Furano · 47.6km from Shintoku

Daisetsuzan National Park, Hokkaido Japan has 34 national parks, but the largest and most rugged is the Daisetsuzan National Park in Hokkaido. Covering an area of approximately 2,268 square kilometers, the park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including many rare species. The Daisetsuzan volcanic complex consists of Asahidake (2,291 meters), Hokkaido's highest peak, and a number of other active volcanoes. Although the area is shrouded in snow and ice almost year-round, during the brief summer months, a variety of alpine plants flourish, adding a rich variety of colors to the vast, desolate plateau. Hokkaido's indigenous people (the Ainu) call the Daisetsuzan "the playground of the gods." The Daisetsuzan National Park is located in the heart of Hokkaido, Japan's second largest island. With more than 16 peaks over 2,000 meters high, the Daisetsuzan area is often referred to as the "roof of Hokkaido" The source of Hokkaido's two longest waterways (the Ishikari and Tokachi rivers) is also located in the park. The winter in the Snow Mountain area is long, and the summer is very short. It is recommended to visit in late August or early September to enjoy the most colorful and gorgeous scenery of the park. If you are a free traveler, you can spend a whole day hiking.

The Church of Water is a modern artistic building with huge floor-to-ceiling glass windows. From there you can see a small artificial lake. The scenery is naturally amazing and it is worth visiting all year round. You can occasionally see small animals there.

What’s amazing is that even in the cold winter, Shirakushi Falls doesn’t freeze, so you can come here all year round. Although the waterfall does not freeze, the surrounding branches have turned into "ice trees", which are as beautiful as works of art. As the name suggests, Baixu Falls has a drop of 30 meters, and the mist is like a thread. 📍Shirogane, Biei Town, Kamikawa County, Hokkaido

Winter weather at the seaside is unpredictable; it might still be snowing down below while the mountains are bathed in sunshine. Therefore, it's best to choose a good day for your trip, especially if you plan to see the night view, as visibility needs to be excellent. The biggest characteristic of Japanese tourist attractions is their excellent management; they are generally well-organized. Furthermore, the facilities are great. There are plenty of rest areas while enjoying the scenery, and the prices for food and drinks are similar to those outside. With reasonable ticket prices, it's definitely worth a visit to Otaru.
