U.S. Route 66

U.S. Route 66, also known as the Will Rogers Highway or Main Street of America, was one of the original highways in the U.S. Highway System, established in 1926. The highway stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica State Beach in Los Angeles, crossing eight states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, covering a total length of approximately 2,400 miles. With the development of the Interstate Highway System, the road was officially decommissioned in 1985, and some sections have since been designated as National Scenic Byways. The scenery along the route is a defining feature of this highway.
