Saga Castle is a castle located in the city of Saga. The ancient name Zuojia City, alias Shen City, Turtle City. Completed in the early Edo period, it is the seat of the Saga Domain's domain hall. Currently located in the center of Saga City. During the Saga Rebellion in the Meiji era, most of the buildings in the castle were burnt down, and only the Shizuo Gate and the Tsukugura have survived to this day, and they are now a national cultural property of Japan. Based on recent investigation results, the scale of the burnt down castle may be the same as or slightly larger than that of the Kokura Castle. The Saga Castle Honmaru History Museum is located in the ruins of the Saga Castle. It is a museum that restored and used the Saga Castle Honmaru Palace built at the end of the Edo period. It is a large-scale wooden restored building in Japan. There are more than 700 tatami mats in the museum, and historical materials related to the Shogunate and Saga during the Restoration Period are displayed in various aspects through documents, videos and models in this wide space.Saga City · 524m from downtown

The Yoshinori Ruins are the remains of a large-scale Huanhao tribe in the Yayoi period in Japan, covering an area of about 50 hectares. The site was discovered in 1986, and the unearthed items were also recognized as important national cultural heritage. The Yoshinosato ruins have collected and preserved a lot of valuable materials and information to understand the ancient history of Japan. It is now a state-run Yoshinosato Historical Park, part of which is operated and managed by the state, where you can experience ancient Japanese history and culture. Among them, watch buildings and double trenches are considered to be the origins of Japanese castles that focus on defense. Yoshinosato Historical Park is based on the basic theme of listening to the voice of the Yayoi period. Through the restoration of the facilities at that time and the display of excavated objects, a place where you can feel the atmosphere of the Yayoi period has been created. The park is divided into four areas, the entrance area to learn about relevant historical materials, the ancient forest area that reproduces the appearance of 1,000 coffins unearthed, the Huanhao tribe area where you can visit the buildings of the Yayoi period, and the ancient wilderness area with more than 30 types of outdoor amusement equipment. , where you can fully experience Yayoi culture.Yoshinogari · 11.7km from Saga City

What travellers say about Saga City

There are not many places to visit in Saga, but Saga Castle is worth a visit. In the evening, the setting sun falls on the Saga Castle History Museum like molten gold, giving this ancient city a soft and mysterious golden coat. Stepping lightly, stepping into this land treated gently by time, it seems as if you have traveled through the tunnel of time and space and returned to that turbulent era. Saga Castle, whose history can be traced back to the early Edo period, was once the location of the Saga Domain Office. However, after many wars and fires, Saga Castle has been damaged several times. Especially in the Saga Rebellion in the early Meiji era, most of the buildings in the city were burned down, and only the city walls and gates were preserved. The Saga Castle History Museum we see today was built on the basis of the reconstruction by the then domain lord Nabeshima Naomasa in 1838, and has been maintained and restored. The History Museum stands quietly under the city wall. Without the hustle and bustle of the day, it is more solemn and quiet at this moment. The city wall, the mottled stones, every brick and tile are engraved with the stories of the past. They have witnessed the changes of countless dynasties and the baptism of wind and rain, but they still stand tall, guarding the memory and glory of this land. Walking along the city wall, you can still vaguely hear the echo of history Walking into the history museum, the lights are soft and the atmosphere is warm. With more than 700 tatami mats, it is one of the largest wooden restoration buildings in Japan. The museum displays a variety of exhibits, from ancient weapons to exquisite works of art, from documentary records to daily utensils, each of which carries the weight of history and tells the past and present of Saga Castle. In particular, those historical materials related to the late shogunate and the Meiji Restoration period, through materials, images and models, present the history of this period in many ways, making people feel as if they are in that turbulent era.

The Yoshinogari ruins were discovered in 1989, overturning the common belief that there were no large moated villages in Kyushu! 2,000 urn coffins and the first Japanese bronze castings were unearthed from the ruins.

The park includes the castle wall and the castle tower in the middle. It covers an unexpectedly large area, which is really surprising and touching. In the middle of the castle is a museum, which mainly introduces the history of the castle, the Osaka Summer Campaign and cultural relics. It is recommended not to take the elevator, but to walk upstairs and view the museum cultural relics layer by layer. The top floor is open to tourists to enjoy the Osaka city view and take photos on the balcony. If you want to appreciate the main body of the Osaka Castle Tower, it is also a good place to look at it from the opposite side of the Osaka Museum of History.

Take a boat in Yanagawa Take off your shoes when you take the boat, there is a kotatsu under your feet The boatman sings while rowing, it's so pleasant The water level is too low, otherwise I heard that you can perform boat jumping😂 After 30 minutes, Kama couldn't get up But it's really beautiful here, I love Japan in winter
