Great Blue Hole

Great Blue Hole is a giant marine sinkhole near Lighthouse Reef in Belize. It is nearly circular in appearance, with a diameter of approx. 300 m and a depth of over 100 m, making it a world-renowned scuba diving destination in the Caribbean. French ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau led an expedition ship here to explore it and named it one of the world's top 10 diving sites, making it widely known. Its origin is quite unique: during the glacial period, it was a limestone cave. After the glacial period ended, sea levels rose, the cave was submerged, and the roof collapsed, leaving behind this circular opening that looks like a deep blue pupil when viewed from the air. Tens of meters underwater inside the cave, it still retains massive stalactites from its time as a dry cave, slanted in the dark waters, which are iconic sights that scuba divers travel specifically to see. The water inside is deep, almost indigo, creating a sharp contrast with the surrounding turquoise shallow reefs. It is particularly stunning when viewed from above. It is worth noting that there are almost no fish or coral inside the cave, as the main attractions are the geological wonders. Nurse sharks and Caribbean reef sharks often patrol the edge of the opening, and sometimes bull sharks can be encountered. If you are not scuba diving, snorkeling in the shallow reef area near the opening also allows you to see coral and fish through the clear water. Half Moon Caye on the same atoll is home to flocks of red-footed boobies and is a great place to visit while you are there.Belize

Located on the east coast of Belize, Caye Caulker is a small coral island famous for its natural scenery and marine ecology. The clear waters and abundant coral reefs provide excellent conditions for snorkeling and diving. The vegetation on the island is mainly low shrubs and coconut trees, and the beach is flat, showing the style of a tropical island. The surrounding waters are home to a variety of marine life, including colorful tropical fish and corals. Visitors can explore the sea by boat or participate in non-motorized water activities. The mangroves on the west side are a good place for ecological observation, and birds such as egrets are often seen. The local area pays attention to environmental protection, and development is restricted in some areas to maintain the natural state. Caye Caulker has simple trails for tourists to explore vegetation and coastal landforms. The island has simple facilities, mainly providing basic accommodation and catering services, suitable for travelers who seek natural experiences. As part of the Belize Marine Reserve, Caye Caulker balances protection and utilization through ecotourism to show the charm of Caribbean islands.Belize · Caye Caulker

as most other reviews would have mentioned secret beach is no longer much of a secret. it is still a nice place nonetheless. because secret beach faces west instead of the east you don’t get the sea weed infestation. you get turquoise blue waters instead and at the beach bars you will be sipping cocktails and eating nanchos with fish swimming around your feet! the preferred method of travel is still to rent a golf cart from San Pedro and take it as a day trip (USD50 a day during peak season, lower during non peak). stroll along the beach a bit first and decide which beach bar/club is your vibe. don’t need to settle in right away. try go before 11 there will be far less ppl around
