Dahebei Scenic Area is located in the southwest of Zhongshi Village, Zhonghang Town, Pingyuan County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, less than 10 kilometers away from the county seat. Here, the peaks are abrupt, the cliffs are steep, the mountains are clear and the water is beautiful, the mountains are green and the scenery is charming. Dahebei has many scenic spots, each of which is pleasing to the eye. Liu Jiangdong, the national master of the Ming Dynasty, wrote in "Wangzi Dragon and Yuzi Cave": There is a dragon on the Muhuang pile, and the unicorn in the sky is difficult to recognize. In front of the hall, it is like a sunflower, and a bright bow appears under the tomb. Three platforms and three pillars are inserted into the cave, and the Tianma flags and drums sound. The iron fan closes the door and presents jewels, and the top scholar's writing is in the clouds. The blessed people are buried, and their children and grandchildren are in the court for generations. The Dragon Mountain, Qilin Mountain, Sunflower Mountain, Tianma Mountain, Qishan Mountain, Gushan Mountain, and Tieshanguanmen mentioned in the poem are all natural landscapes here, and it is known as Little Guilin locally. On the way through Little Guilin, there are Ganlu Pavilion and Mei Pavilion built in the third year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign (1853 AD) beside the provincial road (Liangdan Highway). There are Fengshugang rock carvings beside the mountain road, which contain the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Pingzuo row, each character is about 16.6 cm, and is inscribed in regular script. According to research, the stone carvings are relics left by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom peasant uprising army when they were active in Pingyuan in the fourth year of Emperor Tongzhi's reign (1865 AD). They were listed as county-level cultural relics protection units in 1985. Yangdong River, about 2 kilometers away from the stone carvings, attracts tourists from all over the country with its clear river water and numerous caves.Pingyuan · 7.6km from downtown

Zhonggu Cableway

The Zhonggu Cableway is an elevated sightseeing cable car spanning the Wanshi mountains in Xiamen. Its lower station is located near the west gate of Xiamen botanical garden and the Zhonggu Mountain tunnel entrance. The route passes the botanical garden, Huxi Rock, and Hongshan area, extending all the way to the Wulao Peak behind Nanputuo temple, covering over 1,000 m in total. The cable car features semi-open two-person gondolas without window panes, offering unobstructed views where mountain breezes brush past your face. Once seated, you'll be suspended above layers of greenery and city rooftops. The round-trip itinerary takes approx. 40 mins. Upon reaching the terminal station, the train returns along the same route without requiring transfers. From this elevated vantage point, you can take in Xiamen's mountains, sea, and cityscape all at once: below lies the lush forest and rugged rocks of the botanical garden, while a turn of the head reveals the temple eaves of Nanputuo temple. In the distance, Gulangyu island, the twin towers, and the open sea unfold in sequence—on clear days, you can even spot the islands toward Kinmen. Along the way, the train passes original wartime tunnels and wind-eroded boulders, adding a touch of historical ambiance to this aerial journey. For a more enjoyable experience, you may choose the departure time slot around sunset when the sea and city skyline under the evening glow make for particularly stunning photos. This time slot is often in high demand. The cable car baskets are open on all sides, so travelers who are sensitive to wind should pick a clear and less windy day. The cable car may suspend operations in case of strong winds, thunderstorms, or other adverse weather conditions. It is advisable to check the day's situation before departure.China · Xiamen

Yunshuiyao Ancient Town was originally named Changjiao, but gained fame after the film "The Knot" was filmed here. The ancient village subsequently adopted the movie's name and has now become a highly popular stop in the Fujian Tulou area. The attraction consists of three parts—Yunshuiyao Ancient Town, Hegui Building, and Huaiyuan Building—stretching along the Changjiao River. The ancient village sits in the middle, with the two tulou buildings at either end of the river, all connected by a walkable route. The five-story Hegui Building stands out with its striking square structure, a rare tall rectangular tulou. What's more remarkable is that it was built entirely on marshland, supported by pinewood piles that have held firm for over 200 years, earning it the nickname "Noah's Ark on land." In its central courtyard lies a small sunken pebble area that remains perpetually damp - stepping on it and gently stomping reveals subtle vibrations beneath your feet. The compound also features two ancient wells positioned close together: one with clear water and the other with turbid water, locally called the "yin-yang wells." In contrast, the Huaiyuan Building embodies a different character. This concentric circular tulou features an ancestral hall named "This Is the Room" at its inner ring's center, which once served as the Jian family's private school. Its intricately carved beams and rafters showcase exquisite craftsmanship, inviting close examination of the tulou's interior artistry. Nestled between buildings, this ancient town invites leisurely exploration: A dozen century-old banyan trees line the stream with aerial roots dipping into the water. Cobblestone paths wind along the bank beside creaking waterwheels, while stone bridges span murmuring streams where white ducks waddle—painting a pastoral scene.China · Nanjing County

The moment I crossed the hill, the wind blew from different directions, carrying the message of altitude and the scent of distant lands. It was then that I understood that the depth of travel is actually the depth of the soul—how much of your true self you are willing to invest in experiencing it determines how many years the memories can extend. I'm used to slowing down on my journeys, even stopping, allowing the scenery to seep into my pores, rather than just fleetingly glancing at my skin. Once, I walked all day in the rain, soaked to the bone, only to witness a double rainbow spanning the entire sky at dusk. That awe still resurfaces whenever I recall it, like a silver coin polished brighter and brighter by time. The depth of travel is this ability to transform the moment into eternity; it turns an ordinary afternoon into a story that can never be fully told. As I crossed hill after hill, I discovered that the real hills weren't outside, but within my heart—those fears, prejudices, and habits are the obstacles that need to be overcome. And when I finally crossed them, looking back, those hurdles that once seemed insurmountable have become graceful curves in the scenery, adding rich layers to my memories.

It is said that the glass bridge is more than 200 meters long. I am afraid of heights, but I still went up. Remember not to look down. When you walk to the middle, there is not only a cracking sound, but also a visual sense of the bridge breaking, which is still a bit exciting. You must stay calm.

The botanical garden is large, built against the mountain, and the overall scenery is pleasant. The main attractions are the Rainforest World, the succulent area, various flowering plants and shrubs, and a seven-tiered escalator. Take Metro Line 1 to Zhongshan Park Station, Exit 3B, walk a few hundred meters to enter the garden from the West Gate. Once inside, be sure to take the unlimited-ride sightseeing bus to various attractions. Walking around the mountainous areas can be quite tiring. First, visit the Rainforest World, then the succulent area to see the cacti, followed by the Flower Garden, then the Xizi Garden, and finally take the bus to the South Gate Station. From the South Gate, you can enjoy a distant view of the sea. Take two elevators and seven escalators down to the South Gate; each step of the escalator offers a scenic view and photo opportunities. Finally, take the sightseeing bus back to the West Gate from the South Gate. The photos are mainly taken at the Xizi Garden station of the botanical garden.

I visited 20 years ago, and it's still so much fun now. The park is well-maintained, all the miniature landscapes are beautiful, and there aren't too many tourists. They've also added many NPCs to interact with visitors, handing out cards that you can collect to exchange for prizes. There are also some free rides, a haunted house, a 4D movie—it has everything you could want. You could easily spend a whole day there and still not have enough.

Visiting the Zhonggu Cableway in early October, with its clear skies and gentle breezes, offered the perfect opportunity to experience the breathtaking aerial views, far removed from the sweltering heat of midsummer. The Zhonggu Cableway traverses the Wanshi Mountain forest, and the gentle ascent in the cable car provides a unique and immersive experience, offering panoramic views of Xiamen from above. The cable car cabins are open-plan, offering unobstructed views. As the cable car slowly ascends, lush subtropical forests line both sides, their verdant foliage and fresh mountain air filling the air. With each ascent, the view gradually expands, revealing the verdant Zhonggu Mountain range nearby, and in the distance, the red-tiled roofs of Xiamen's old town, along with the high-rise buildings and the bay, unfolding in a harmonious tapestry. Reaching the highest point, one can gaze upon Gulangyu Island and the boundless sea, taking in the panoramic view of the city, mountains, and azure ocean blending seamlessly into a breathtaking panorama. The entire journey takes approximately forty minutes one way, with a smooth and leisurely ride, ideal for savoring the scenery at a leisurely pace. Along the way, you'll see towering boulders in the valleys and forest trails, with constantly changing mountain scenery from different angles. Compared to hiking, the cable car saves you the effort of climbing, yet offers a panoramic view unmatched by ordinary observation decks. The only drawback is the long queues during peak hours; it's recommended to travel during off-peak times. The cabins offer no shade, so remember to wear sunscreen when the sun is strong. Sitting in the cable car, with the mountain breeze in your ears and overlooking the entire city, you'll feel incredibly relaxed. The Zhonggu Cableway is more than just a transportation route; it's a window into the panoramic view of Xiamen's mountains and sea. Here, the wild beauty of the mountains and the coastal cityscape converge, allowing you to experience the tranquility of nature while enjoying breathtaking urban views. If you're tired of the bustling city streets, climbing here and gazing at the unique mountain and sea scenery of Xiamen from mid-air is a pleasant and unforgettable experience.
