DMZ is the abbreviation for demilitarized zone, meaning a non-military area. The DMZ refers to a military buffer zone created by North and South Korea, with each side retreating 2 km from the 38th parallel north boundary within their respective territories. At Dora Observatory, you can see the surrounding city view, while the Freedom Bridge is where North and South Korea exchanged prisoners of war. The iron fence at one end of the bridge is covered with ribbons, on which people have written their hopes for unification. The Third Infiltration Tunnel and Dorasan Station are also key highlights of the visit.Paju-si · 17.8km from downtown

Gyeongbokgung Palace is located in the center of Seoul and was the first palace built during the Joseon Dynasty. The name "Gyeongbok" is derived from the phrase in the Book of Songs, "May the nobleman live ten thousand years and receive great blessings," embodying the royal family's wish to share peace and prosperity with the people. The palace offers charming scenery throughout the four seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, fragrant ginkgo trees in fall, and snow-covered landscapes in winter, resembling a piece of jade. Many Korean dramas, such as "Dae Jang Geum," "Rooftop Prince," and "My Love from the Star," have been filmed here. Gyeongbokgung Palace has Gwanghwamun to the south (the main entrance, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship, outstanding architecture, and elegant design), Geonchunmun to the east, Yeongchumun to the west, and Sinmumun to the north. Watching the royal guard-changing ceremony is a must-see. ,Seoul · 26.5km from Paju-si

I should have gone to see it sometime and learn about the history of the division of North Korea. Unfortunately, due to a border crossing incident, the JSA wouldn't let me go, so I could only visit a museum built by a tourism company.

Kintex (Korea International Exhibition Center), located in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, is South Korea's largest multi-purpose convention center. With a total exhibition area exceeding 100,000 square meters, it boasts one of the largest spaces in Asia. The facility is divided into two exhibition halls, and is accessible from Daehwa Station on Seoul Subway Line 3. The center offers a wide range of amenities, including restaurants and convenience stores, making it a comfortable environment for a full day of sightseeing. In addition to hosting numerous international expositions and large-scale business exhibitions throughout the year, its immense capacity also makes it a frequent venue for large-scale music festivals and concerts, including K-POP events.

We went up Namsan in the late afternoon and stayed until after dark, which is the best way to visit: relaxed green views over Seoul in daylight, then the love-lock fences and the tower lit up at night. Inside the tower there is more than the observatory, including the n.Grill revolving restaurant with afternoon tea, lunch and dinner courses, the Hancook Korean restaurant with a weekday lunch course, and a K-pop VR theatre. Take the Namsan cable car or the 01A/01B buses up, and go around sunset to see both views.

Big, beautiful and bustling! The palace is so spacious with so much to see and wander through. It can take you a couple hours but it’s wonderful and vibrant. I wish there was more historical information but it seems like it is being expanded in some ways. There’s tons of tourists and pretty places to take so much photos. If you wear traditional clothing, you get in for free!

It's a very nice place, and I like that Koreans preserve their history, preserve their houses, and live in them. I recommend not lingering on the main street, but rather, going deeper into the area where you'll find museums and more unique, less touristy places you can stop in and stroll around. But be polite and don't make noise, because that's where people live.

In the height of summer, Seoul Tower is more tiring with its uphill climb, but less of a hassle waiting for the cable car. It's a must-see attraction for first-time visitors. You can choose whether or not to go up the tower at your own expense; it's similar to the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. The all-glass bathrooms inside the tower are a major highlight! 😂

Imjingak, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, the closest place to the 38th parallel during the trip, was different from what I imagined. I didn’t see the blue house where the peace agreement was signed, which was a bit disappointing! Is there no tour to the blue house in South Korea?
