Karatsu Castle was created by Hiroko Terazawa, a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, after referring to the materials of Nagoya Castle. It took seven years to complete the construction of Karatsu Castle in 1602. The Dangjin Castle we see today has been restored. The original castle was burned down due to the war, but the restored castle has reproduced the charm of the past Dangjin Castle. The tower is in the shape of a crane head, and the left and right wings overlook the Songyuan, just like a flying crane. The Maizuru Park surrounding the castle has hundreds of someiyoshino and wisteria trees. When the flowers bloom in spring, Karatsu Castle is surrounded by pink, which is very beautiful. Dangjin Castle, which is illuminated at night, has another intoxicating view.Karatsu · 1km from downtown

Every morning from 7:30 to 12:00, the 200-meter-long morning market is full of vendors, where you can buy a variety of fresh seafood, vegetables, fruits and flowers. All kinds of fresh goods and the energetic shouting make the Huzichao market full of life and very lively.Karatsu · 11.8km from downtown

In Kankyo Geijutsu No Mori Park, you can rediscover the forests, rivers, and oceans of the past—a forest embodying the concept that "forests nurture oceans." In spring, cherry blossoms bloom abundantly, and their petals dancing in the breeze signal the seasonal shift. Early summer brings sunlight filtering through fresh green maple leaves, creating a vibrant world of greenery alongside moss-covered grounds. The cool summer winds blowing through the forest offer refreshing comfort. Fall transforms the mountains into fiery red foliage, with stunning views of autumn leaves available yearly. Winter brings especially cold temperatures to the highlands, offering a uniquely serene and crisp seasonal experience.Karatsu · 15.1km from downtown

Mikaeri No Taki Falls, located in Igisa, Ochi-cho, Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, Japan, is a representative natural view in the Kyushu region and one of the "Top 100 Waterfalls of Japan." With a drop of over 100m, it is the largest waterfall in Saga Prefecture. Its name, "Mikaeri," means "to look back" in Japanese. It is said that the waterfall's scenery is so magnificent that visitors are reluctant to leave and cannot help but look back repeatedly. The waterfall is situated within Tenzan Prefectural Natural Park. The Igisa River, originating from Mount Shakadake, flows through this area to form this spectacular waterfall. The waterfall is divided into two streams, known as the "Male Waterfall" and "Female Waterfall," which were reportedly named by monks from the nearby Jogo-ji Temple during the Genroku era. The water cascades down from a height, splashing and roaring, displaying extraordinary power amidst the embrace of lush green forests. A suspension bridge is located near the waterfall, making it an ideal spot to take in the panoramic view.Karatsu · 11.3km from downtown

Cape Hado is located at the northern end of the East Matsuura Peninsula. There is a grassland on the cape, overlooking the endless Genkai Beach, and the scenery is charming. Especially the scenery at sunset, the atmosphere is romantic, and it has become a popular hot spot for lovers to date and propose. The white heart-shaped installation completed in 2009 has become the symbol of this place. Since then, Cape Hato has been nicknamed "HeartMisaki" (HeartMisaki), which is a homonym of the Japanese word HatoMisaki. Another popular tourist attraction at Cape Hado is the White Underwater Observation Tower, which is connected to the coast by a trestle bridge. The bottom of the tower is 7 meters deep into the water as if it emerged from the sea. Standing on the white observation tower, you can see the beautiful seabirds of Genkai Beach, and enjoy the gentle touch of the sea breeze. The underwater part of the observation tower has 24 viewing windows, allowing you to observe fish and marine plants up close. Because of the unique geographical location of Cape Hado, this area is the intersection of the warm current and the Korean wave, and you can see rare tropical fish and seaweed here. In addition to the white observation tower, there are many places for tourists to enjoy at Cape Bowdo, such as camping areas, sea bathing, fishing areas, tennis courts and so on. There are also complete accommodation facilities in the surrounding area, so you can find a suitable holiday mode whether you are traveling by car or traveling with your family. When you visit here, remember to taste the specialty grilled salamander snails of Cape Hado, which is a delicacy that cannot be tasted anywhere else!Karatsu · 16.3km from downtown

The Kokoko Market is one of the three major pilgrimage markets in Japan. It is also another important purpose of our visit to Saga Koko (food again...) Due to its coastal location, Huko is rich in seafood. Among them, the number of squid is the largest in Japan and it is famous in Kyushu. The Huzi Chao Market is only held in the morning, and local fishermen will set up stalls to sell their fresh catch. In this morning market, your hands are the bowls! For example, when we bought sea urchin, my mother-in-law would immediately open it with a knife and put it in our hands to eat immediately! Super fresh and sweet! Unlike other markets, the residents here are very sincere and lovely. It is definitely a town with simple folk customs! What I remember most is that we bought fresh sea urchin that day. Although my mother-in-law didn’t understand English, she still tried hard to communicate with us, which moved us very much!

It's quiet. The surroundings are so nice. It's healing. It's good for contemplation. There are no restaurants around. You have to walk a bit. But the scenery is so nice and the silence and comfort make everything comfortable. It's good for healing.

It was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who called it "Iru Tang." A local museum still has a screen depicting the scene at the time. In less than six months, the castle, second only to Osaka at the time, was built, and 160 of Japan's most famous military commanders were assembled. The one who led the largest number of troops was Tokugawa Ieyasu, with 15,000 soldiers, and at its peak, over 200,000 soldiers came and went. It surpassed Kyoto. There was a golden teahouse.
