Altstadt von Innsbruck

Altstadt von Innsbruckis small and can be explored entirely on foot: the Inn River flows nearby, the rock faces and snow line of the Nordkette hang above the rooftops, and medieval Gothic and Baroque houses line the streets, their facades painted in warm red, pale yellow, ochre, and other colors, making every view—whether you look up or down—scenic. The streets here are smooth, varying in width, and feature many curves. There isn't much urban planning, but the entire old town is a sight to behold, representing a clever blend of culture and nature. The main street is Maria-Theresien-Straße, where you can admire landmarks and symbols of Innsbruck, such as the St. Anna Column and the Golden Roof. There are many historic cafes and restaurants along the street where you can order a coffee and savor the moment.Innsbruck · 1.1km from downtown

Golden Roofis a landmark in the Old Town of Innsbruck, Austria, and a calling card for this city in the Alps. It is actually a two-story late Gothic oriel balcony added to the facade of the old New Palace building: in the early 15th century, Duke Frederick IV, nicknamed "Empty Pocket," moved the center of power in Tyrol to Innsbruck and built his residence there. In the late 15th century, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I commissioned court architect Niklas Türing to build the oriel balcony to commemorate his marriage to Bianca Maria Sforza of Milan, and it was completed in 1500. The roof is covered with over 2,000 gilded copper tiles, which shimmer in the sun on clear days, and the underside of the balcony features a magnificent Gothic net vault.Innsbruck · 1.1km from downtown

Maria Theresia Street is located in the very lively medieval old town of Innsbruck, at the foot of the Calvindel Mountain, extending from the Arc de Triomphe to the golden roof from south to north. It is a very old and prosperous shopping pedestrian street in Innsbruck. Via Maria Theresia is paved with small stones and has a retro flavor. The street is not long and can be completed in 10 minutes, but the design of every building, street light and even road signs here is very ingenious. The end of the street is connected to Calvindel Mountain, and you can see the distance when you walk on the street. The beautiful scenery of snow-capped mountains is a place worth slowing down and savoring carefully. You can start your medieval journey from its starting point, the Arc de Triomphe. The two sides of the magnificent Arc de Triomphe are carved with joy and sorrow, which is very intriguing. Continue on and you'll find the streets are lined with fine shops, from high street fashion brands to craft shops, cafes and restaurants. At the end of the street is the golden roof, which is covered with 2657 copper plates and dazzling in the sun. In addition to shopping, visiting museums, and admiring buildings, Maria Theresia Street is also a place full of activities. The performances of street performers, pigeons walking leisurely, and people chatting and laughing in roadside cafes are all beautiful scenery. A place to sit, enjoy the bright sunshine, the leisurely life of the locals, watch the Calvindel Mountain at the end of the street change into a gradient of blue, and feel the unique charm of the old town of Innsbruck.Innsbruck · 1.4km from downtown

Eagles Mountain has hosted the Winter Olympics twice in 1964 and 1976. The ski jump at the top of the mountain is remodeled according to the design of London architect Zaha Hadid, which is fully equipped and unique. Visitors can walk up the mountain or take the sightseeing elevator to the ski jumping platform. This is where the opening ceremonies of the two Olympic Games were held. The audience platform can accommodate about 50,000 spectators. The end of the platform is the altar where the Olympic flame is lit. The names of all winners are recorded. There are also cafes and restaurants on the top of the mountain for tourists to rest. From here, you can have a bird's-eye view of Innsbruck and the northern foothills of the Alba Mountains. In addition, sporting events such as the annual Quad Jumping Tournament and the Matt Snow Jumping Competition are also spectacular.Innsbruck · 3km from downtown

At the southern end of Via Maria Theresa, stands a majestic Roman-style triumphal arch. It was built by Queen Maria Theresia in 1765 to celebrate the wedding of her son Leopold and Princess Maria Ludovica of Spain. The prince was later crowned Emperor Leopold II. The two marble reliefs on the Arc de Triomphe were built in 1774 and record the wedding and funeral events of the Habsburg dynasty. The relief at the southern end depicts the festive wedding of Crown Prince Leopold, while the relief at the northern end shows the tragic funeral where Franz, the husband of Empress Maria Theresia, died violently. die.Innsbruck · 1.6km from downtown

Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the foothills of the Alps in Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border and not far from the small town of Füssen. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to composer Wagner and inspired by the legend of the "Swan Knight" Lohengrin, construction began in 1869. Its fairy-tale appearance—white walls, blue domes, and scattered spires—served as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is perennially regarded as Germany's tourism icon. The castle interior was originally planned to have over 200 rooms, but by the time of the king's death in 1886, only a dozen had been completed, each exquisitely crafted. The throne hall's dome is painted with a star-studded blue night sky, while the floor features mosaic patterns of flora and fauna, with a chandelier modeled after a Byzantine crown hanging high above. The Gothic double bed in the king's bedroom took over four years to carve by more than a dozen sculptors. The relatively large singers' hall in the castle, adorned with murals of "Lohengrin" and "Parsifal," was modeled after the Wartburg singers' hall and still hosts concerts every September. Swan motifs are nearly omnipresent, appearing in murals, door handles, and washstands. Interestingly, this medieval-inspired castle was already equipped with telephones, central heating, hot water, and automatic flushing toilets at the time, making it remarkably advanced for its era. To capture the classic postcard-perfect shot, head to Marienbrücke. This pedestrian bridge, suspended over the Pöllat Gorge, faces the southern facade of the castle and is not far from the bus drop-off point. It gets crowded in the afternoon, so an early visit is recommended. You can take the shuttle bus, a horse-drawn carriage, or hike up the mountain. The hiking route offers a bird's-eye view of the castle, and along the way, you can also see the yellow Hohenschwangau Castle, the old royal palace on the opposite hill. The castle's ending carries a touch of tragedy: Ludwig II built it with his private funds and loans, facing strong opposition from his ministers. On a late night in June 1886, he was arrested in his castle bedroom and mysteriously died days later by Lake Starnberg. Seven weeks later, the castle opened to the public. Today, visiting the interior requires following a guide, and photography is prohibited inside. Live guides provide commentary in English or German, while an audio guide is available for Chinese. Visitor guide To the castle There are three ways to reach the castle: taking the shuttle bus, riding a carriage, or going on foot. Most people choose to take the shuttle bus, then walk a short distance to Neuschwanstein Castle, where there is a viewing platform to overlook another castle—Hohenschwangau. You can also reach the castle by carriage, where you can enjoy picturesque scenery along the way, and the witty carriage driver will share legendary stories that happened here. After disembarking, it's just a short walk to the castle entrance. If you don't want to wait in line for the shuttle bus or prefer outdoor activities, you can also hike to Neuschwanstein Castle. Along the way, you can capture an aerial view of the castle, and there are relatively fewer travelers. Take a postcard-perfect photo of the castle Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) is located near the terminal stop of the uphill bus. This 100 m-high bridge spans between two cliffs, with its floor made of wooden planks that slightly bounce when stepped on. Here, you can capture the famous postcard-perfect shot of Neuschwanstein Castle. If you arrive early before your scheduled visit time, you can first head to Marienbrücke to photograph the beautiful view of Neuschwanstein Castle, as the bridge gets overcrowded after noon. Guided tour To visit the castle interior, you must follow the official guide. The guide provides services in English and German. You can also choose to use an audio guide (available in Chinese). After the visit, you can take a short break at the café inside the castle.Schwangau · 58.3km from Innsbruck

Ambras Castle, perched above Innsbruck, Austria, is a captivating Renaissance gem blending art, history, and stunning alpine views. Once the residence of Archduke Ferdinand II, it houses one of Europe’s oldest museums. The castle’s highlights include the grand Spanish Hall, adorned with portraits of Tyrolean nobles, and fascinating collections of armor, rare artworks, and curiosities. The Upper Castle displays portraits from the Habsburg dynasty, while the landscaped gardens and tranquil ponds offer a peaceful retreat. Rich in culture and elegance, Ambras Castle perfectly combines royal heritage with natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination in the heart of Tyrol.

This Arc de Triomphe is not the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France that is known to everyone internationally. This is the Arc de Triomphe in Innsbruck, Austria. It was built under the order of Her Majesty Queen Maria Theresa. It is the city landmark of Innsbruck and is worth a look. I recommend a visit!

We choose the horse carriage ride up, it was €8 a person. It took around 20 minutes and we enjoyed the forest view. Make sure to arrive and park at least an hour early. The entrance time is exact to every 5 minutes for crowd control. The entrance ticket includes an audio set and takes around 30 minutes. You are moved thru the rooms rather quickly. There are free lockers at information at the entrance area if needed. No pictures can be taken during the tour. **not handicapped friendly ** must be able to walk for 2-3 hours and climb up and down many flights of stairs. There are no elevators. We planned to walk down but it began to rain. So we took the horse carriage again -/€4/person.
