Things to do in Huixian

Better than expected, not tiring overall, almost no uphill climbing. The Via Ferrata experience was pretty good. The free roller coaster was a bit thrilling; those with lower back or neck problems should avoid it. Didn't try the swings or the giant pendulum. The Grand Canyon light show was really great, a pleasant surprise.

Baligou, a quintessential part of the Taihang Mountains, is a national 5A scenic area. The Tianhe Waterfall boasts a magnificent 180-meter drop, while the surrounding red rock cliffs are rich in negative oxygen ions, making it a cool and refreshing escape from the summer heat. The pristine natural landscape is well worth a visit.

This time I only visited the Guoliang area of ​​Wanshan Mountain and saw the Guoliang Cliffside Highway. The next day I went to the watchtower and the Heavenly Ladder in Guoliang Village, a round trip of 7 kilometers on foot, which took about two and a half hours. You can walk along the road without climbing stairs. The view from the top of the mountain was quite nice.

The Southern Taihang Scenic Area typically refers to the Xinxiang Southern Taihang Tourist Resort Area, located in Huixian County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province. It encompasses several core scenic areas, including Baligou, Wanxianshan, and Guanshan, and is renowned for its rugged cliffside roads, crystal-clear pools and waterfalls, and cool canyon scenery, making it a popular summer resort in Central China.

Huilong Tianjieshan Scenic Area, located in Huilong Village, Shangbali Town, Huixian City, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, is situated in the heart of the Southern Taihang Mountains. It is an important part of the Baligou Scenic Area, covering a total area of ​​43 square kilometers. It combines the attributes of a national forest park, geological park, Taihang macaque reserve, and national-level red tourism site. Five Zones: Longyin Gorge: A 4000-meter-long water-friendly gorge with the double-tiered Longkou Waterfall, frequented by Taihang macaques; Yunfeng Gallery: A circular suspended walkway halfway up Laoye Peak, offering 360° panoramic views of the Taihang Mountains, including a glass walkway; Laoye Peak (The First Iron Peak Under Heaven): 1570 meters above sea level, a Taoist holy site with a completely stone-built, beam-less hall covered in iron tiles, and a popular place of worship; Zhanggou: A leisure and vacation area with a concentration of guesthouses and farmhouses; Shiziling: The highest peak in the Southern Taihang Mountains (1763 meters above sea level), featuring an aerial meadow suitable for hiking and wilderness exploration. Culture and Experience: The location of Beitieding, one of the "Southern Golden Peak and Northern Iron Peak" in Taoism; Red Education (the construction of the Huilong Cliff Road); Different scenery in each season: flowers in spring, summer retreat, autumn red leaves, and winter icefalls.

I wanted to take on the challenge by driving, but my car was too wide and my driving skills weren't great, so I was worried about the difficulty of passing other vehicles. In the end, I could only climb to the top of the opposite mountain to get a distant view of the cliffside road. It still felt quite thrilling and exciting. I drove a section of the less challenging cliffside road myself as a small experience.

Qi Wang Zhai Scenic Area isn't very large overall, but driving on the cliffside road is a very exciting experience, and the scenery is stunning. It can be combined with the Southern Taihang Mountains into a tour route; highly recommended.

Guanshan National Geopark, located in Shangbali Town, Huixian City, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, is a national-level geopark known as "the supreme spiritual water world of Taihang Mountains and the first landslide wonder in China." Its core features are landslides, fissures, and peak forests formed by 2.5 billion years of geological activity, combined with Danxia landforms and clear waters. It is divided into several areas, including Pangu River (water scenery), Huashan (peak forest), and Baibaodong Cave. It is not far from Baoquan Scenic Area, making it a convenient connecting route for a tour. Must-see attractions: 1. Hongshixia/Hongshiyuan: Red cliffs and clear waters, Bailong Waterfall, cascading waterfalls – perfect for summer water activities. 2. Yixiantian (Gap): Only 20 centimeters narrow at its narrowest point, majestic and breathtaking. 3. Xiaoyaoyuan/Zuishiyuan: A rock formation formed by landslides; the "Drunken Stone" is a great photo opportunity. 4. Tianzhufeng/Shizhuyuan: Columnar peaks, a landmark of the Taihang Mountains. 5. Wolong Waterfall and Longtan Lake: The essence of the Pangu River's waterscape, with clear water reflecting the red cliffs. 6. Shuangyan Viewing Platform: Overlooking the entire Guanshan Danxia landform.

Guoliang Village, a small village located deep in the Taihang Mountains in Shayao Township, Huixian County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, is famous for its cliff corridors and unique natural scenery. When you step into Guoliang Village, the first thing that comes into view is the cliff road known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World". This road is 1,250 meters long and is completely artificially excavated on cliffs. It is an important channel connecting Shanxi and Henan provinces. Standing on the road, you can overlook the bottomless canyon and feel the magic of nature. Going along the road, you will come to Guoliang Village. The houses in the village are built on the mountain, scattered and orderly, exuding a strong rural style. The buildings here are mainly stone, stone houses, stone walls, stone tables, stone benches... Make people feel like they are in a world of stone. Guoliang Village not only has magnificent natural scenery, but also has a rich historical and cultural background. It is the seat of the Huixian Anti-Japanese Government and also Guo Xing's learning and training base. Many famous directors such as Xie Jin and Guo Kaimin have filmed movies here, adding infinite charm to this small village. In Guoliang Village, you can also experience the wonder of the shouting spring. This spring located on a 100-meter-high cliff seems to have magical power. When you stand under the spring and shout loudly, the spring water will suddenly increase its flow, as if responding to your call.
