Gold Coast beach

645 reviews
Gold Coast beach stretches for approx. 70 km, and its golden sand is a hallmark of this coastline, which is how it got the name Gold Coast. The sand is fine and glows with a warm golden luster in the sunlight, while the water transitions from a shallow turquoise near the shore to a deep blue in the distance, creating distinct layers. The beach features several distinct sections along its length, with a lively atmosphere in the north and a relatively quieter vibe in the south, catering to visitors with different preferences. Surfing is a signature, long-standing experience at this beach. The coastline boasts several famous surf breaks, including the Superbank near Snapper Rocks, which is known for producing long, hollow waves that attract a large number of surfers year-round. Surf lifesavers patrol the beach, and red and yellow flags mark safe swimming areas. A coastal walkway connects the various beach sections, making it a great way to explore by walking or cycling. The beach enjoys abundant sunshine and a mild climate year-round, with different sections catering to various needs.Australia · Surfers Paradise

36 reviews
Mount Coot-Tha Summit Lookout is located at the summit of Mount Coot-Tha, west of the Brisbane city center, at an elevation of over 200 m, and is a classic spot for overlooking the city. The name "Mount Coot-Tha" originates from the local Indigenous language and means "place of honey." In the early years, it was also called "One Tree Hill" because of a single tree left standing at the summit. Since it was designated as a public recreation area in the late 19th century, it has been a popular spot for Brisbane residents to relax and enjoy the view. The lookout offers expansive views, with the winding Brisbane River flowing through the city, and the city center skyline and Story Bridge in full view. On clear days, the view extends all the way to Moreton Bay, where islands such as Stradbroke Island are clearly visible. The evening is a particularly charming time here, as the sunset glow illuminates the city and the bay, and after dark, the lights of the high-rises gradually turn on, making it a romantic moment to enjoy the night view of Brisbane. The summit features a café and a souvenir shop, where you can take a break after sightseeing. A mountain road leads directly to the summit, where the distinctive Brisbane radio and television transmission towers are located. If you have enough time, the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and the planetarium at the foot of the mountain are also worth a visit.Australia · Mount Coot-Tha

South Bank Parklands is located on the south bank of the Brisbane River, facing the city center across the river. It is a linear waterfront park stretching along the river, converted from the site of the 1988 World Expo. A major highlight here is that a beach has been brought directly into the city center. Streets Beach features an artificial beach and swimming pool. The white sand, blue water, and the skyline formed by office buildings on the opposite bank create a unique view, which is quite rare in an Australian city center. You can swim here when the weather is warm. The Grand Arbour in the park stretches for approx. 1 km, with steel frames covered in purple bougainvillea. It is a highly popular photo spot. The Rainforest Walk is hidden in the bustling city, lined with lush greenery. The Nepal Peace Pagoda is an original wooden pavilion left over from the World Expo. Its three-story structure was transported in its entirety from Nepal and is worth a special visit. Public barbecue grills are available on the lawns, and many locals bring ingredients for picnics. On weekends, Stanley Street Plaza often hosts markets, and you might encounter street performances at any time. The Wheel of Brisbane stands in the park, offering a bird's-eye view of the river and the city skyline. The riverside path is suitable for walking or cycling, and you can also take a water bus or cruise to enjoy the scenery on both banks from the river.Australia · South Brisbane

Springbrook National Park

5.1
4.2/5
91 reviews
Springbrook National Park is located in the mountain rainforests of the Gold Coast hinterland. The plateau, shaped by ancient volcanic activity, has been deeply carved by streams into layers of cliffs and canyons, creating a lush, green landscape. Most waterfalls and lookouts are accessible via short trails. The park consists of several areas, with the Springbrook Plateau and Natural Bridge being the most popular. Visitors can enjoy waterfalls and cliffs during the day, and see the starlike glowworms in the caves at night—each offering its own unique experience. Natural Bridge, Springbrook National Park, is the signature attraction here: years of erosion by stream water have hollowed out the mountain, and now the stream pours through a circular hole in the cave ceiling, weaving a curtain of water inside. A natural stone bridge remains where the cave roof collapsed. You can see the waterfall passing through the cave by following the approximately 1 km loop trail. After dark, the cave ceiling lights up with patches of blue-green glow—these are the bioluminescent larvae commonly known as glowworms. They are actually the larvae of a type of fungus gnat, and their cold tail light is used to lure prey. When gathered in large numbers, they look like a starry sky hanging overhead. They glow every night throughout the year, though their light is dimmer during the dry winter and spring seasons and exceptionally bright during the hot, humid, and rainy seasons. On humid summer nights, you might occasionally spot glowing mushrooms along the trail, and sometimes even fireflies. Please turn off flashlights and camera flashes when viewing, as direct bright light will cause the colony to "turn off" instantly. Please stay on the trail, and do not enter the water in the cave area. After walking out of the cave, don't forget to look up; the stars in the mountain night sky are equally moving. The plateau area is home to most of the lookouts and waterfalls: the Canyon Lookout is just a few steps from the road, offering a view of Twin Falls and Rainbow Falls as they tumble over the cliff edge into the deep valley. The ambitiously named Best of All Lookout requires a walk through a forest of ancient Antarctic beech trees that are thousands of years old; on a clear day, you can see Mount Warning in New South Wales in the distance. Purling Brook Falls, with a drop of nearly 100 m, is the park's iconic waterfall. The loop trail allows you to descend to the valley floor, where you can stand on a suspension bridge and look up at the entire water curtain, which is especially spectacular when the water volume is high after rain. The Twin Falls circuit allows you to walk directly behind the waterfall.Australia · Springbrook

Brisbane City Hall

5.1
4.4/5
204 reviews
Brisbane City Hall is the seat of the Brisbane City Council and one of the city's most recognizable historic buildings. It was designed in the Italian Renaissance style, with the central circular auditorium inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, and the towering clock tower modeled after St Mark's Campanile in Venice, featuring sandstone walls from local quarries atop a granite base. Because it cost nearly one million pounds to build at the time, it has long been known as the Million Pound Town Hall. Climbing the tower is a signature experience here: start at the Museum of Brisbane on the third floor, take the vintage elevator up to the observation deck above the clock face, and enjoy a bird's-eye view of King George Square in front, the grid-like streets extending outwards, and the Brisbane River flowing through the city. The clock in the tower chimes the Westminster Quarters every 15 minutes, and can be heard clearly even on the nearby Queen Street Mall. Back inside, it is worth taking a close look at the marble staircase, mosaic floors, and chandeliers in the foyer, as well as the circular auditorium with its copper dome. The light show under the dome and the century-old pipe organ with thousands of pipes are both worth stopping to admire. King George Square in front is spacious and lively, hosting performances, markets, and festivals year-round, making it a perfect place to stroll after visiting the City Hall.Australia · Brisbane

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I've been living in Brisbane for 9 years, and I only visited the Queensland Museum yesterday for the first time! I can't believe I waited this long. Such an amazing place with so much to see, learn, and explore. The exhibits were fascinating, and I really enjoyed the whole experience. I honestly wish I had visited much sooner! Definitely a must-visit place in Brisbane. Highly recommended for all ages!

This is a must-visit in the Gold Coast area of Brisbane. My favorite attractions are: Twin Falls, Rainbow Falls, Qinquan Falls, Natural Bridge. These places are very beautiful during the day, but they are a million times more beautiful at night. There are many fireflies on the forest road and in the cave... Just think, in New Zealand, you have to spend 50 New Zealand dollars to see the fireflies in the cave, but here it is free!!! An absolutely amazing place!!!
