San Francisco (San Franciscan) Church, built in 1361, is the oldest church in Italy and was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2000. The cathedral has a delicate structure, consisting of upper and lower churches, built on one side of the hill, including the upper and lower churches, and the tomb where the remains of San Francisco are placed, as well as the attached monastery. The upper and lower chapels are decorated with frescoes by many painters of the late medieval Roman and Tuscan schools, where Giotto, Cimabue and other Italian artists of the time created their works, and began to move from the mannerisms of Byzantine art.
