Reviews: Shrewsbury Prison Guided Tour

Went on a guided tour today with Dan as our tour guide. Very interesting, informative tour, Dan was very good. Lasted 1 hour 40 minutes and I’m glad we did the guided tour rather than the self tour as you get so much more information than you would get from reading info boards. We were able to look around ourselves afterwards also and I’m glad we did as there was more to see and read. Quite expensive really at £25 each but I enjoyed it and am glad we did it. I thought a £5 charge to park on the prison grounds was quite frankly a rip off when you’ve already paid £50 entry fee and the car park is barely fit for purpose you have to dodge the potholes. It is good to see that something has been made out of the building rather than it just sitting there empty, a good attraction if you like true crime

We LOVED this tour!! Jonathan's one of the best guides we've ever experienced - his brilliant storytelling skills and indepth knowledge of Birmingham, including of architecture, local pop culture, industrial history including the canals, and of course Peaky Blinders sites, made the tour both informative and entertaining. Looking forward to returning to Birmingham for more of Jonathan's other tours!

Excellent. Very informative about prison life from both the inmates and the staff points of view. Our tour lasted a little over 90 mins but our guide, Alex, was flexible about that and he was also a fountain of information. After and before the your we were free to walk about the prison on our own.

Very interesting. We did the self guided tour, were given a map and were able to take our time going round. Plenty of information boards, and good displays.
