Foreigner traveller on Taiwan High speed rail able to get 15% discount. First use was a little confusing. But second time onward was ok. Need to exchange physical ticket atcounter with proof of passport and reservation.

So convenient!!! You go to the counter to exchange your QR code for a physical return ticket and take the direct bus to the city. That day, it was crowded from the airport to the city, so we had to wait a good hour before getting on a bus, but the journey was perfect! On the return trip, there was little waiting and the journey was perfect too!

I'm so glad I bought it in Japan! The place to buy it is right before the platform to go from the airport to Taipei, so if you just head in the direction of the subway, you'll definitely find it! If you show the QR code there, you'll get two cards. The first one is unlimited so you can ride without worrying, and the second one means you don't have to pay a separate train fare from the airport to Taipei, so I recommend buying one in Japan.
