I stayed in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, for a conference. Before leaving, I decided to explore the surrounding area on my own. There weren't many options; I'd already driven all over the city. Driving here was definitely worthwhile. After all, it's rare for city dwellers to visit a desert oasis. We rode camels, sledded on the sand, and went beachcombing. A group of us, well past our age, had a blast and wanted more.

Ticketing was fast, service was good, very nice. The scenic area is beautiful, but the location is a bit hard to find. Now that the road is repaired, it should be much easier.
