The drive to Mui Ne takes about 3 hours, with a toilet break along the way. At White Sand Dunes, there's an optional ATV ride, which is highly recommended! An operator rides behind you across the vast desert, and although the basic route is set, you get to drive yourself, making for an amazing experience. At Fairy Stream, you can walk barefoot upstream along the river and be rewarded with breathtaking scenery. The return trip also takes a little over 3 hours.

A big thank you to the driver for his patience. He tried to please us and was genuinely surprised we weren't happy. But we weren't mentally prepared for such a trip. 1. White dunes. It was beautiful. But: to see the sunrise, you have to go a long way on ATVs, and there was a line of about 40 people for them. We went on foot. We walked about 50 meters along the sand, took photos, and headed back. 2. We were taken to a dragon fruit plantation (entry is required), so we decided to continue on. 3. Red dunes. The same color as the white ones, maybe a little yellowish (although on the way to the location, we passed truly beautiful red sands). In fact, it's a small quarry, just a pile of sand. 4. We stopped on the highway for a photo by the sea, and were asked to continue on; we've been in Vietnam for two months and have been to much more picturesque locations. 5. Fishing village. We didn't even have time to leave the highway before the rotten smell became unbearable, so we were asked not to go there. 6. Stream. It's a brown sludge with floating cans and bags, which they asked us to climb into and walk barefoot for 40 minutes to a wow-worthy place. At that price? Ugh.

The fishing village was terribly dilapidated, utterly uninteresting, full of trash, and with the rain, the red beach was also out of the question... The tour guide was clueless... inflexible.

the jeep was spacious and the back seats can fit 3 pax nicely. it was very windy and so comfortable. the driver drove very quickly though, luckily the roads were relatively empty. the pics the driver took of us were super pretty. the driver wasnt clear in his instructions though, at the red sand dunes, he told us we had 30 mins (which means we were expected to be back at the jeep by 5.45pm ish, which is before sunset). we got down on time, but he asked “are you guys not staying for sunset?”. we got down early because of what he told us, but because the peak of the red sand dunes was quite high up, we were lazy to go back up (the sun was also already setting). would have been better if he could be clearer with the instruction. it was a pity.

We really enjoyed the tour! The jeep driver was very polite and friendly, and he took some great photos for us to remember. The trip was definitely worth it. You can't truly experience Vietnam without seeing the desert, the windmills, the fishing village, and the fairy stream. It was a fantastic experience! But there was an unpleasant moment. At the entrance to the desert, we were offered to switch to an ATV for an additional fee. We agreed. We paid 800,000 VND. The ATV driver drove us to the observation deck and silently dropped us off. We got out, looked around, took photos ourselves, and the kids rode on the cardboard box... What should we do next? I told the driver, "Take us to the next point, a different observation deck higher up." He said with displeasure, "Go on foot." I was shocked: I was assessing my and my children's abilities and realized that we wouldn't be able to get there on foot... I practically burst into tears from resentment. I ask him, "How are we going to get there?" He turns away and pretends not to understand. Another Vietnamese guy on another ATV says, "Get on." He gave us a great ride.

The itinerary from Fairy Creek to the Red and White Sand Dunes was perfectly paced, with excellent time management and attention to detail. While the White Sand Dunes require an additional fee, the inclusion of two designated photo spots is a thoughtful touch. The main theme, strolling through the Red Sand Dunes at sunset, offers an immersive experience. Furthermore, the lack of a strict return-to-hotel time, allowing guests ample time to enjoy the beauty of the sunset, is a considerate touch.
