Fantastic day with incredible sites like Katsuoji Temple (don't forget the six stamps!), the charming town of Uji with its magnificent Byodoin Temple. The meal was delicious, and the matcha tea introduction was very interesting with a very friendly instructor. We then continued on to Kyoto and the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, which is crowded but a must-see. Gary, our guide, was perfect, a wealth of knowledge, and very attentive to our needs. I recommend this tour 1000%!

After the beginning trepidation, it was really so much fun. It’s a bit far out, close to the airport, but easy to get to. I booked the afternoon show. They say turn up early, but don’t turn up before 5pm because they don’t let you in. You already have been allocated a table so it doesn’t matter too much what time you arrive. The annoying thing was they kept playing an intro video on repeat; and the same songs from Bruno Mars on repeat. However, once the show started it was actually great, you could meet 3 sumo guys, they were so friendly, the rules were explained in Japanese and English; and you can try it as well. It was a lot of fun. They could do with a better welcome at the beginning, a better menu and better in-between music, but overall for the experience it was fantastic.
