Our guide Prakash was excellent and did well to explain everything to us.
Unfortunately, the Meenakshi Amman Temple was mostly covered up (only one gopuram was not covered) due to scheduled restoration works - very disappointing. Plus there was a lot of building work going on to repair the damaged caused by fire. Also the Gandhi Museum was closed and all that we could were copies of artifacts in the main museum.
Thankfully, the Thrumalai Nayakka Mahal Palace was superb and well worth the visit.★

Incredible tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and kind. It was interesting to learn about the history and sites of Madurai, but also loved seeing the everyday life of Madurai. Seeing the banana market, the streets, trying Jigarthanda, etc was all amazing.
