A must-have for Aussies traveling to Asia – huge savings compared to roaming
Rating: 5/5. This was my second time using this eSIM, and I can confidently say it's a game-changer for Australians traveling to Asia.
I did the math, and the cost savings are significant. To put it in perspective, I looked at the big Australian telcos' roaming fees:
· Vodafone & Optus have a daily roaming rate of AUD $5 for international data.
· Telstra's similar plan will cost you AUD $10 per day.
For a 10-day trip, that's an eye-watering AUD $50 to $100 in roaming fees alone.
Then there's the value when compared to other eSIMs. For example, a popular provider like Airalo charges around AUD $37.50 for a 10GB/30-day plan for a single country like Indonesia. However, this Trip.com eSIM gave me connectivity across multiple countries in Asia at a fraction of that cost. I bought the SIM card for a trip to Latin America, and it worked everywhere except Bolivia, as stated in the plan. In Peru, the connection was often lost, and I had to manually select a carrier, but this could be due to the mountainous terrain. Overall, I recommend it.
