This tour was an interesting overall tour of the community of Dunga. We first walked from the meeting point to the pier and saw both residences and businesses along the road. This is not a heavily touristed area and we were the only foreign tourists around. It was Sunday morning however, so many residents were in church (we could hear the singing) but still the village was bustling preparing for the afternoon rush of locals who come to eat the fresh fish. Once we reached the pier we rode in a boat similar to those used by the fishermen for about 2 hours. We learned all about the fishermen, fisheries and sand harvesting and could see all of this activity going on. We saw many birds and cruised the coast. We were fortunate enough to see the hippos in the lake (sometimes they’re hiding.) Once back on land we visited the fish market and tasted a fresh fried sardine. Our guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. If you want to see some authentic local culture this is a great option.
