Reviews: Cairns Great Barrier Reef + Fitzroy Island 1-day tour
Guest User2026-10-27
I traveled to Cairns with my father, and we booked different itineraries on the same day. He didn't want to walk, so he went to Green Island on the Big Cat, while I chose Emerald Island because I wanted to experience some rainforest and kayaking. It was definitely worth the trip. Emerald Island has a very diverse landscape, from the Jellyfish Sea to the beach to the rainforest. Overall, I was very satisfied with the trip!

The whole trip was just a boat ride of almost an hour, and the scenery was so-so. Those prone to seasickness should probably avoid it.

Reviews: Free upgrade to the 1-day tour of Fitzroy Island on the Sunlover in Cairns [optional snorkeling at Emerald Isle]
Guest User2025-09-10
Easy to book with lots of options to suit your needs. We chose the transfer and snorkelling gear package. Just be mindful that you mind have to pick up the gear from other boat before heading to the one that will take you to the island. If you have a big family and kids, it might be problematic to take all of this stuff with you and walk to the boat. The boat was packed and we struggled to find a place to sit with all of this stuff, and had to seat separately. Apart from that the experience was great, the island is beautiful and you can see the reef and all the sea life. The beach itself is covered in washed away corals, which is beautiful but you might need coral shoes or crocs to make it easier to walk. You can also hike up the mountain or Nudey beach and the view and water is stunning. The food and water are pricey but you take take it with you from land.
