Hidden alleyways far from the tourists. And the excellent guide Sofia with her French-Maltese name. She tells me about her troubled childhood under the dictator Salazar and the suffering of a people who no longer had access to culture or freedom of expression.

Évora is a beautiful city rich in history and culture but we would have missed all of it without our guide, João. He really made the city come alive and did an amazing job at tailoring the tour to our interests.
