Reviews: From Sorrento: Half-Day Tour of Herculaneum

We were told to arrive at the meeting point at 8:10 am but the bus was at least half an hour late. The tour guide at Ercolano was excellent.

If you love Roman history, Herculaneum is a total can’t-miss. Most people flock straight to Pompeii, but this site is such a jewel. It’s a lot smaller than Pompeii, which actually made it feel way more accessible and easier to take everything in without feeling completely overwhelmed. Our guide, Sara, was fantastic super friendly and really made the history come alive. There is so much to see, but it was honestly sad to see that some parts have been damaged by modern graffiti. A site this important really should be better guarded to keep it preserved. We went on March 18 and it was packed with school tours right at the start, but by the time we were leaving, the place was practically empty. If you go, definitely don’t miss the ancient boat—it’s in a separate building and is incredible to see. It's a must-see for anyone into history!
