Reviews: [Lunch Included, Optional Boat Ticket] Japan Kyushu Takachiho Gorge + Kumamoto Aso Volcano Kusasenri Day Trip
Guest User2026-04-15
Thank you to our local guide in Fukuoka, Ishihara, for the wonderful day with us, speaking three languages. The itinerary was packed, though I got a bit dizzy on the bus. Just a small suggestion: it would be better to choose a bus with USB ports, since we take a lot of photos, which drains the battery quickly, and most people want a relaxing trip. 😊

What a pleasant and smooth day! 🌞 The weather was amazing! Autumn in Takachiho Gorge is beautiful. Luckily, I didn't become an Aso refugee! 😂 I saw Mount Aso up close, it was quite breathtaking! Our guide, Daisy Wu Xia, was super nice – very professional service, a well-planned itinerary, and very helpful. She even shared local food and shopping tips with us… Looking forward to seeing you again!

This trip to Mount Aso was an excellent experience, and I'm so grateful to our tour guide for his professional and attentive guidance throughout! He had a thorough understanding of Mount Aso's volcanic history, the Five Peaks landscape, crater scenery, and local customs, providing vivid and detailed explanations packed with valuable information. The itinerary was well-planned, with a relaxed pace that wasn't rushed. He patiently cared for each member of the group, promptly reminding us of safety precautions and important points for sightseeing. He meticulously planned the route, leading us to deeply appreciate the grandeur of the active volcano and the natural beauty of the grasslands. His service was warm, attentive, and highly responsible—a truly outstanding experience! Highly recommended!
Reviews: SUNQ Pass Kyushu (All of Kyushu/Southern Kyushu/Northern Kyushu) + Shimonoseki unlimited bus ticket | SUNQ Pass

The electronic 3-day pass allows you to choose any 3 days out of 5, whereas the paper pass only allows 3 consecutive days. The electronic version offers more flexibility, and it's very convenient if you have a data SIM card on your phone. This trip started from Hakata Station and ended directly back at Fukuoka Airport, without backtracking. I used the SUNQPASS Kitakyushu 3-day pass throughout the trip, using it on days 2, 3, and 5. Transportation costs on arrival days were my responsibility, and I booked a day tour on day 4. The pass allows free rides on highway buses, local buses, and designated ferries. Upon arriving at Fukuoka Airport on day 1, I went to the counter to exchange my reservation for physical tickets. The staff will ask to see the electronic pass I purchased, but it doesn't need to be activated. When boarding the highway bus, you need both the physical ticket and the activation ticket for that day shown on your mobile phone. For local buses, you go up from the back door to get a numbered ticket. When you get off at your stop, show the driver the activated ticket for that day, and drop the numbered ticket into the bin. The high-speed ferry from Shimabara to Kumamoto also accepts a pass. Show it to the staff at the ticket counter, and they'll give you a handwritten ticket. Just hand it to the staff when boarding. Our trip covered our costs, but wasn't much cheaper. However, it was so convenient because you don't need to pay with coins when getting on and off; they just count out 10/50/100 yen coins there.

I really enjoyed the guided tour. Even though it was a chilly day, we still saw the sights. The group was also interesting; we got to know each other and spent a great time together. Thanks for the trip!
