What is the hidden alley?
The location is called Kagurazaka. Back to 200 years ago, it used to be a red light district. At that time there were many of Tea houses where the Maiko, or Geisha performed. Nowadays, the location itself has a lot of local business shops, and restaurants in a traditional Japanese way. You can definitely enjoy the atmosphere of local Japan that you can't experience, if you go Asakusa, or Shibuya.
