Reviews: From Antigua: Pacaya Volcano Tour in English/Spanish
Guest User2026-04-22
The bus was exactly on time, but very small to transport all 26 people. The guides only spoke Spanish. The climb doesn't seem very long, 3.5 km there and 3.5 km back, but the gradient is quite tough. The view of the volcano is breathtaking!

The guides were so friendly and went out of their way to provide an amazing experience for us! They even gave us jackets we could wear because we didn't have any. Excellent customer service! We loved roasting Marshmallows over the hot lava rocks. This was an u forgettable experience!
Reviews: Antigua: Marshmallows Roasting at Pacaya Volcano 6-hour Tour

The meeting point was easy to find and I was picked up on schedule. The bus was full but comfortable. Fortunately, we stopped for a coffee and a pastry if desired. At the entrance, there were horses for rent as well as walking sticks. This was a relatively easy hike. However, the guides stopped many many many times. The views were beautiful and the lava landscape was very interesting. The guides were professional and friendly.

Although it's the easiest to climb, it still presents a challenge. It's always a good idea to have your trekking pole handy. Water and snacks are also invaluable.
Reviews: Antigua Guatemala and Hobbitenango: A Day's Guided Tour

Roberto taught me so many interesting things about history and was always attentive to our needs and preferences along the way; he even helped me take pictures! He's an excellent guide! Hobbitenango wasn't anything amazing; I would have preferred more time exploring Antigua!
