Reviews: Chocolate Tour in Bribri Indigenous Area & Cahuita National Park

We had a wonderful day with our guide Juan, who drove us from Puerto Limon down to see the indigenous Bri Bri people in southern Costa Rica. He took us to one of their settlements where we were shown many local plants and how they were used for food, medicine, and clothing. The highlight of this part of the tour was making chocolate. We watched and helped! our Bri Bri hosts roast the cacao pods over an open flame, crushing the hot pods with rocks using a primitive mortar and pestle and then grinding the small chunks into pure cacao chocolate which we enjoyed mixed with roasted banana. Yum! This part of the tour was more than enough to make a fun day, but this was only the first part.
We then started to head to Cahuita National Park, but not before stopping to hike down to a nice waterfall and enjoy the cool water (bring a swim suit!) en route to Cahuita. We hiked along the trails at Cahuita National Park and enjoyed the beach and scenery before beginning our trek back to Puerto Limon. However, the day wasn't over yet as we stopped for a nice lunch with our guide Juan in Cahuita, enjoying a traditional lunch with beverages before heading back to Puerto Limon. Juan could not have been a better guide, teaching us new words in both Spanish and the native Bri Bri language, pointing out wildlife and other things we might have missed, and all around ensuring that we had the best day possible. We highly recommend the tour and can't say enough about our guide for the day, Juan. Thank you!★

Unfortunately the sight wasn’t too good in the water so we couldn’t snorkel according to plan, but those are things that no one can control and the staff was so flexible and in the end we did snorkel! I also liked the tour in the national park. Good amount of time in both activities I thought, and also nice combination!★

We recently took a vacation to Costa Rica. One of the adventures was an amazing tour from Syl Travel. Our tour guide named “Risheylin” was super sweet, and very knowledgeable about her country. The tour took us through the jungle, where we tried local Caco (The plant where chocolate comes from), and other local eats and drinks. Part of the tour also included a river cruise, a forest adventure, and more. Risheylin was so upbeat it made our adventure even more enjoyable. We highly recommend Syl Travel and ask for Risheylin.★

Were a few drawbacks as the van's air-conditioning was not up to the job and some stops not that interesting. But Risheylin our young guide did a great job and made up for any deficiencies (thus the 5 stars). She was very knowledgeable and did her best to accommodated everyone.★

Reviews: Puerto Viejo Sloth Jungle and River Kayaking Tour

We had an amazing time exploring the trails in Punta Uva. We spotted sloths, monkeys, a caiman and toucans along the way. The lookout point offered a great view of the ocean, and kayaking on the river was so peaceful. We also kayaked in the crystal-clear sea. Big thanks to our guide Yara for the unforgettable experience.★
