We were staying in in Asahikawa and our tour guide Rii was wonderful in facilitating us being able to join and leave the tour . She was very helpful throughout the trip and was definitely one of the highlights in our booking.

Our Chinese-speaking tour guide was from mainland China (Sister Bingbing). The meeting point was easy to find. The zoo was given a fair amount of time for a day trip, but it was just so much fun, and with lunch included, we felt the time was insufficient. The snowmobiles were really fun, and the snow at Shikisai-oka was perfect for snow activities. The guide also recommended the bakery next to the Fairy Terrace; the bread was absolutely delicious. Because the return trip to Sapporo took a while, we only had time for a short visit to the Fairy Terrace. Exploring all the shops on the terrace would take quite a bit of time. However, for just browsing and taking photos, the time was enough! It was my first time on a day trip, and I had a wonderful time. The beautiful snowy scenery along the way was truly breathtaking, especially for someone from my country who rarely sees snow!

Guide Liu was amazing! Today's day trip to Asahiyama Zoo, Forest Elf Terrace, and Shirahige Falls was exceptionally well-planned. The timing was impeccable, allowing ample time for photos and exploration at each attraction, so there was no rush. Guide Liu not only provided detailed explanations but was also incredibly considerate, looking after the elderly and children in our group throughout the trip and resolving any issues immediately. Although the weather was cold, her warmth made the entire trip feel cozy. The view from the Forest Elf Terrace was fantastic, and the snowscape at Shirahige Falls was breathtaking. Traveling with Guide Liu was both safe and enjoyable – a perfect score! 💯

Asahiyama Zoo: A Waltz of Life in the Snow Asahikawa Zoo, Japan's northernmost zoo, truly shines in winter. It's not just about observing animals, but also a life education about survival and vitality. • The Winter Extravaganza of Penguin Walks: This is the number one reason for winter visitors. To help penguins burn fat during the long winter, the zoo allows them to walk in the snow daily. Watching the King Penguin waddle past, its white belly puffed out, is a uniquely comforting and warm experience, a winter-limited warmth. • The Majesty of the Polar Rulers: Polar bears appear remarkably at ease amidst the thick snow, rolling and playing in the snow with a more vibrant energy than in summer. It was a great experience. It was my first time to take a one-day tour. We visited Tomita Farm, Shirahige Falls, Aoike Pond, and Shikisai-no-Oka. I didn't bring a power bank, so the guide lent me one to charge. 🔋 I was so touched. The guide was very patient in explaining things along the way. I will definitely take part again next time.

Our tour guide, Oscar, was both informative and bubbly. Although English isn’t his first language, he made a genuine effort to communicate with our non-Chinese-speaking guests, which we truly appreciated. Throughout the trip, he shared local stories, food recommendations, and souvenir tips that made the journey more engaging and enjoyable. While the flower fields looked lovely from a distance, they weren’t in full bloom yet—up close, they appeared rather bare. On a side note, for a nearly 10-hour day trip, over 6 hours were spent on the road. This made the actual sightseeing feel quite limited, and we felt the overall experience didn’t fully justify the price paid. If driving is an option, we would recommend self-driving instead, as it allows for more flexibility and time at each stop. Also, don’t miss the all the ice cream!
