Had a great day . Pickup and dropped of at our hotel. Oom was our tour guide and did a great job. Visited the cemetery (which could have been a bit longer ) the Jeath museum and then a long tail boat ride to the bridge . Spent some time at the bridge and markets ,met an Expat S.A Aussie ,retired and living in Thailand working as a Tourist policeman very Friendly and helpful. Took the train ride to Kanchanaburi Had a great lunch and walked the tracks and visited the cave which was used to house the prisoners and now is home to a Buddhist Shrine. We would like to return for a Anzac Service one day. Highly recommend the trip

Aey was friendly and professional. Her English was good and she made sure we were comfortable, fed and hydrated throughout the day. The waterfalls were so amazing, my only advice would be to allow a little bit more time there instead.

Reviews: [Private Small Group Tour] Kanchanaburi, Thailand: River Kwai Bridge + Death Railway + Erawan Waterfall Day Trip
Guest User2026-10-15
This was our first day trip... and it was a real winner! Mark (the driver), besides being punctual and waiting for us at reception, was also incredibly personable and welcoming. We quickly found common ground, both on the trip itself and unrelated, so the two-hour drive to our first destination flew by. The River Kwai Bridge was just the prelude to the experience, as crossing it on the Authentic Train, capturing the spirit of the time, was a special treat. And the Death Road took our breath away. Riding it was like walking on a razor's edge! I'd only seen something like this in movies. But those waterfalls were the icing on the cake! They were my childhood dream! The lashing blows of the falling abyss, diving off a cliff, fighting the current, the bold, tickling bites of fish that see you, not them, as prey. And, of course, the beauty of the local nature. We loved Thailand. And our new friend Mark! 10 out of 10 rating.

We went on a group tour; there were about 20 of us. Because of the rain, there were fewer people, but still a lot. However, we quickly bought tickets, and our first group headed off with a very young guide, Alina. She studied Russian in China and also visited St. Petersburg for six months, and today she gave her first tour! So, I'd really like to commend her, as she has a pretty good Russian accent. Of course, she mixes up our endings, but I'm sure with some practice she'll become more confident in our difficult Russian. We understood everything throughout our short tour. In fact, the tour itself was supposed to be 2 hours long (covering the history of the landmark), but the tour itself and the history were over in about 40 minutes, and then there was free time, as they say. Honestly, the tour was dry, literally: "The emperor lived here, and the empress was here, they ate here, they rested here." Add more interesting historical facts
