Night Tour Highlights
Lighting Art: Over 3,000 landscape lighting fixtures are installed along both sides of the moat, employing a unique "ink and wash" lighting technique. Warm white light accentuates the ancient city walls' historical texture, while dynamic projections at the base of the bridges showcase seasonal themed animations. Concealed lighting in the residential areas outlines the horse-head walls, creating a flowing scroll of ink painting.
"The boat floats on the waves, and people walk in a painting": Aboard a replica of an antique painted boat, slowly sailing along the thousand-year-old canal, you can experience the artistic conception of "the boat floats on the waves, and people walk in a painting." The pink walls and black tiles, pavilions and towers on both sides of the canal appear and disappear under the lights, creating a charming contrast with the rippling water.
A journey through World Heritage: Suzhou's moat, dug by Wu Zixu, a minister of the State of Wu during the Spring and Autumn Period, boasts a rich history. In 2014, it was designated as part of the Grand Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site. This night tour takes in 14 historical landmarks, including the Three Scenic Spots of Panmen (the Water and Land Gates), Wumen Bridge, and the Ruiguang Temple Pagoda.
Meet at Xinshiqiao Pier at 7:35 PM to embark on a 70-minute Suzhou Ancient Canal cruise through the Jiangnan Water Village. This nighttime tour blends dazzling lights, ancient monuments, and the charming local dialect of Wu, allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty and refinement of Suzhou.
