Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.★

I was extremely satisfied with this trip to the Forbidden City! Our guide, Zhang, provided professional and detailed explanations, effortlessly weaving historical anecdotes into the story, avoiding a rote recitation and making the red walls and yellow tiles vivid and engaging. The route was well-planned, the pace comfortable, and he was patient and attentive throughout, reminding us of photo spots and tips for avoiding peak hours. Today I participated in a guided tour of Prince Gong's Mansion by "Teacher Zeng, the Top Scholar of Beijing". I can only say that the time was too short. His insightful explanations would have made it worth a whole day. However, Teacher Zeng took us to all the places we should visit and saw, and explained everything in detail. I benefited a lot from the tour.
