Reviews: 1-Day Xi'an Tour: Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum (Terracotta Army) + Huaqing Palace [Chinese/English Guide]

DO: Get tickets for the Camel Bell show.  It's the best live show I've seen in China so far. DON'T: Get tickets for the optional "An Army Reborn" show.  Not worth the money, trust me. The tour guide, Star, was very informative and communicated clearly.  Tour was well organized, never rushed or boring.  By far one of the best day tours you can do if you want to learn the history of these two locations.  Both locations are mostly open-air, so make sure to dress for the weather and prepare for a reasonable amount of walking.
Reviews: Xi'an Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum Terracotta Army half-day tour with expert guide and hotel transfer

This half-day tour of the Terracotta Warriors was fantastic overall, a fulfilling and comfortable experience. Special praise goes to our guide, Ms. Xing Yajuan; she was incredibly thoughtful, professional, meticulous, and patient. Originally scheduled for 9:30 to 11:30, she led us for a full three hours, without any rush. She also made sure to check on everyone's needs, such as photo opportunities, restroom breaks, souvenir purchases, and whether we were pressed for time. Knowing that many of us dislike crowds, she would deliberately take us to less congested areas for explanations, making the experience clearer and more enjoyable. Ms. Xing has an exceptional understanding of the details of the terracotta warriors, explaining everything from clothing, hairstyles, and expressions to weapons and formations in a vivid and insightful way. I learned a great deal and gained a deeper appreciation for the awe-inspiring nature of the Terracotta Warriors. I highly recommend Ms. Xing Yajuan; she is one of the best and most dedicated guides I've ever encountered on any tour.

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.
Reviews: Full-Day Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with 5 Hours at the Site (ENG/ESP/RUS Guided Bus)

Our snowy trip to the Mutianyu Great Wall was absolutely magical. Seeing the Great Wall blanketed in white snow was a breathtaking wow moment—I completely fell in love. The bus arrived on time, and our tour guide Amelia explained everything clearly on the way, which made us feel prepared and at ease. She also explained the different routes on the wall and gave us the option to choose, which we really appreciated. The countryside buffet included with our ticket was delicious and comforting—something I would happily choose over Burger King or Subway. We also loved the optional Great Wall certificate as a meaningful keepsake. The cable car ride going up was a bit scary, but the ride down was smooth and enjoyable. We’re very glad we chose Mutianyu over Badaling. There was a small misunderstanding about an earlier bus departure, but the lady organizer handled it kindly and professionally, personally apologizing and making sure everything went smoothly. The experience was surreal!

One of the best tours in Beijing. A wonderful opportunity to experience the city's ancient history. Many thanks to our wonderful guide, Anastasia! The entire tour was captivating, from the first minute to the last. Anastasia has a way of making even the most challenging periods in the history of China and its ancient kingdoms easy and fun. After all, as Anastasia said, the Chinese are taught to live with a smile, to overcome all difficulties, and to find happiness and joy. We have much to learn from her. Thank you, Anastasia, for an informative, comprehensive tour with fascinating facts from various aspects of ancient and modern life, as well as the history of the city and the country.
