Reviews: Melbourne Puffing Billy Steam Train + Phillip Island Penguin Island Day Trip
Guest User2026-02-27
This itinerary was really great for us traveling with kids. The penguin watching was in the evening, so we left the hotel around noon, which suited our child's schedule. Our first stop was the Puffing Billy Railway, a popular station with great photo opportunities. It was sunny at first, but halfway through the journey, a sudden downpour started. So we skipped the zoo and went straight to Phillip Island. We saw kangaroos along the way, and Cape Nobis was beautiful. Our guide, Xiao Li, was also fantastic. We did see the baby penguins in the evening, but my older son got impatient in the end. We took many close-up photos though. Highly recommended!
Reviews: Snorkelling or Glass Bottom Boat at Green Island from Cairns

Beautiful island, if you don’t snorkel though there not much to do. Glass bottom boat is good. Food sold on the island is basic. Not all menu”s are written in other languages with pictures. Overall relaxing day.

Although you can snorkel from the Green Island beaches, the real Great Barrier Reef snorkel experience is vastly improved if you pay the additional amount to take the small boat to the reef and see vastly more of the marine life and beautiful coral. Truly amazing!
