For my 6-day, 5-night trip, I bought a 5-day Kansai Wide Area Rail Pass. It was an incredible value! It took me from Kansai Airport to my hotel, then to Himeji Castle, then to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Then, I went to Wakayama and Shirahama, even using the Kodama Tram at Kishike Station, and finally back to Kansai Airport. It was incredibly practical and saved me money!

I was very pleased that the ticket price was lower than on the official website—a nice savings! The purchasing instructions were clear. Printing the pass at the terminal was quick and easy (I've attached the instructions; don't waste time at the ticket counter; go straight to the terminal). However, if you have any questions, you can always contact the JR West office.

If you go to Okayama, you must buy this pass. My friend and I exchanged it for Okayama Castle tickets and sundaes, which was super cool in the hot summer. We also exchanged it for a Kurashiki stroll coupon. If you want to go to Kurashiki, you must exchange it! It's worth it. I exchanged it for a glass of sparkling wine, jelly, and DIY things similar to Dorayaki.

You can save even more by combining this with the JR PASS Wide Area Pass. I used two of these: the hot springs at Key Terrace Seamore Hotel and the Kii-Katsuura Matsunoshima boat tour. Both were highly recommended and enjoyable. I originally wanted to try the Kii-Katsuura Senryu restaurant, but it was closed both days I was there (perhaps due to the off-season in October). Ultimately, I didn't use this option due to my itinerary.


