Reviews: Australia Phillip Island + Penguin Parade half-day tour [depart after waking up, round-trip from the city, easy check-in]
Guest User2026-08-23
A friend recommended this half-day tour. We met at the Immigration Museum after lunch, which was a big plus since we didn't have to get up early. It was a small group of about a dozen people, and the driver/guide was quite chatty. On Phillip Island, we first went to the Nobbies viewpoint. The seals were sprawled out on the rocks, which was quite interesting to see from a distance. The highlight was the penguin parade at night—after dark, groups of little penguins emerged from the sea and waddled back to their nests. We were very close, right next to the boardwalk, and could clearly see their little expressions. Photography and videography were prohibited throughout, and staff kept a close eye on them, which was actually a good thing, since cameras would just produce a black image anyway. Focusing on the view made it more immersive. The wind was strong at the beach that night, and I regretted not bringing a down jacket. We didn't get back to the city until almost midnight. Tired, but it was worth it. Overall, I was very satisfied. Just remember to dress warmly!

Reviews: [Affordable Price for Tomorrow] Melbourne Puffing Billy Steam Train + Phillip Island & Penguin Island Day Trip

A super satisfying trip! The weather was fantastic too; the driver said it was the best weather in recent days—lucky us! I finally got to ride the steam train I'd been dreaming of and saw the world's smallest blue penguin, only about 33cm tall 🐧—so cute and adorable! The driver's route and sightseeing time were well-planned. Besides ensuring our safety, he also acted as our guide, explaining the background and history of each stop. A perfect experience 💯—absolutely fantastic!

Reviews: Optional Mercedes-Benz 499] Melbourne Puffing Billy Railway + Penguin Parade Phillip Island 1-day tour
Guest User2026-10-07
Our trip during the National Day holiday was quite unpredictable in Melbourne's spring weather. The trip to Phillip Island was a bit late, around 10 am to 10 pm, perfect for those who love to sleep in. The little train wasn't fast, and the journey was long regardless of whether it was sunny or cloudy. Phillip Island (and its penguins) is quite weather-dependent; on sunny days, the beach scenery was incredibly soothing, and it wasn't too cold to see the little penguins at night. We arrived at a good time; the weather was suddenly sunny and breezy when we got to Phillip Island! We managed to take pictures of the chubby little penguins and the Australian specialty grey geese during the day. The driver was very talkative throughout the trip, covering topics from farms to koalas, penguins, and Australian seafood. Everyone on the bus was very punctual, so we didn't waste any time.

Reviews: Melbourne Puffing Billy Steam Train & Phillip Island Penguin Parade one-day tour
Guest User2026-10-23
We had a fantastic day trip on the Puffing Billy Steam Train and the Phillip Island Penguin Parade! The weather was great, so we had a wonderful time! Because the train departure time was earlier than planned, we left 45 minutes early. The entire journey was 14 hours long, and Jack really worked hard! He was so attentive and thoughtful, sharing helpful tips at each attraction to make our trip smoother and more enjoyable. His driving skills were also excellent; the ride was smooth and comfortable throughout, which was very reassuring. Thank you, Jack, for taking such good care of us all day. We had unforgettable travel memories, and I highly recommend it! Sources

Reviews: Melbourne Brighton Beach Boxes/Zoo + Penguin Island one-day tour with Chinese/English Option available

We had a wonderful time at Phillip Island. Our tour guide arranged a great itinerary, explaining a lot about Melbourne's history and recommending good restaurants. Each attraction was described in detail, and we had plenty of time for some of the sights. We'll definitely use this travel agency again next time we visit.
