Reviews: Antelope Valley: Upper Antelope Deer Canyon Tour

Couldn't recommend this experience highly enough! It was absolutely incredible! John's knowledge and passion about their land and the slot canyons was wonderful to listen to. We met at the office on site and John then drove us down to Deer Canyon, he was great to get along with and had us chatting right away. This is honestly one of the best experiences we've ever had, and it was amazing to be shown round by a local family run business. My wife and I were lucky enough to be the only ones booked in during our time slot, so we got to experience everything 1 to 1, which was a bonus! We'd definitely recommend booking a private tour in the future as it was great to be able to hear all of John's knowledge without interruption. Huge thank to John and his family for opening up their land to us and sharing Deer Canyon. It was a real once in a lifetime experience, we'd love to be lucky enough to see more with them one day! If you're thinking about booking this tour then make sure you do!

I highly recommend you hire a guide to shuttle you to the canyon entrance. The walk through the terrain isn't particularly hard but we had cool weather. One walking woman asked our guide for a ride back to her car. He was very accommodating. I wouldn't waste my time walking but if money is an issue, walking is doable. Bring water, wear a hat to protect you from the sun. Now, the Upper Canyon Tour was outstanding. The guide was knowledgeable, kind, shared openly about the Navajo culture and what the land means to the Navajo Nation. The history of the canyon is amazing. The sites you'll see are otherworldly. Pay the money! Do an Upper and Lower Canyon Tour. We used a smaller tour company for the upper canyon. For the lower canyon we used Dixie's Canyon tours which are organized and big business. They push a large volume through the lower canyon throughout the year. But they try to keep each group to 15 and there are guides inside the canyon to keep groups moving. Bucket List for sure!!!

Vanessa was great... our photos are amazing keepsakes. We will treasure them always. Once we spread out a bit we were able to hear her better. She is a bit soft spoken and hubs uses hearing aids. But she was wonderful keeping us safe on the stairs and at the level shifts/ladders. Incredible experience.

My experience with DETOURS was great from the beginning. The booking was great. they were very informative on what to expect and weather and very responsive! It was great. The actual tour was also great! Our tour guide was Diane. She was awesome. Very informative. Though the crowd wasn’t budging on some of the jokes, she kept it going. lol I appreciated her approach and her knowledge of things!! it was very nice to know facts of Arizona as we crossed into different areas of it. I will definitely be returning for the Sedona tour!
