Three Natural Bridges, a typical karst landscape and a rare geological wonder tourist area, is also a filming location for the movies Curse of the Golden Flower and Transformers: Age of Extinction. Three bridges spanning two pits Three Natural Bridges in Wulong consists of three natural stone arch bridges: Tianlong Bridge in Three Natural Bridges attraction, Qinglong Bridge in Three Natural Bridges attraction, and Heilong Bridge in Three Natural Bridges attraction. The three bridges span across the Yangshui River Gorge, with each bridge's span and height above the canyon floor exceeding 100 m. These stone bridges connect the mountain masses on both sides of the gorge, forming the unique "three bridges sandwiching two pits" view. The pits between the bridges are also known as "tiankeng" (sky pits). Travel route After entering the attraction, travelers can take the sightseeing elevator down to the tiankeng at the valley bottom, then stroll along the tranquil paths. Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

7.9
4.7/5
5.6k reviews
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is the long-established core commercial district in Chongqing, located on the Yuzhong Peninsula. Centered around the Monument to the People's Liberation at its heart, it extends along several streets including Minquan Road, Minzu Road, Zourong Road, and Bayi Road. The monument is an octagonal tower-shaped structure, originally built to commemorate the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and later renamed the Monument to the People's Liberation. Its four-sided clock at the top makes it a highly recognizable landmark in Chongqing, and most travelers visiting here take photos in front of it. Shopping and food are the two main themes of the pedestrian street: the area around the monument is densely packed with shopping malls and traditional department stores. When tired from shopping, visitors can turn into Bayi Road Snack Street, where sour and spicy noodles, small glutinous rice balls, and wontons line the street, allowing them to sample all of Chongqing's snacks while strolling. Hidden around the commercial district are Luohan Temple and Nengren Temple on Zhonghua Road, two ancient temples nestled among skyscrapers, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. At night, the pedestrian street takes on a different vibe: building screens and neon lights illuminate the area, and the square in front of the monument becomes a popular spot for night photography. Every New Year's Eve, many locals gather under the monument to listen to the New Year's bell and count down together—a tradition that has continued for years. The crowd is enormous that night, so those wishing to experience the atmosphere should plan ahead. A short 15-minute walk from the monument leads to Hongya Cave, making it ideal to combine both locations into a nightlife route.Chongqing · 2.4km from downtown

White Emperor City Qutang Gorge Scenic Spot

7.8
4.6/5
4k reviews
White Emperor City Qutang Gorge Scenic Spot is located by the river in Fengjie County, Chongqing, at the western entrance of the Yangtze River's Three Gorges. It consists of two parts: White Emperor City and Qutang Gorge. A historic island city surrounded by water meets a majestic and precipitous gorge gateway, where natural landscapes, Three Kingdoms relics, and millennia of poetry converge. When cruising through the Three Gorges, the gorge's panoramic scroll often begins unfolding here. White Emperor City, originally named White Emperor City Qutang Gorge Scenic Spot, was built by Gongsun Shu in the late Western Han Dynasty as a fortified city, where he proclaimed himself the "White Emperor," a name that has endured to this day. During the Three Kingdoms period, Liu Bei retreated here after his failed eastern campaign and entrusted his son to Zhuge Liang on his deathbed. The colorful sculptures in the Entrusting the Orphan Hall at the White Emperor Temple recreate this historical episode. Interestingly, while the temple's name remains unchanged, it now enshrines Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang, who were honored during the Ming Dynasty. The Mingliang Hall, Wuhou Shrine, and Star-Gazing Pavilion are built along the mountainside, while the eastern and western stele forests display inscriptions from various dynasties, worth a slow-paced appreciation. The site is also renowned as the "City of Poetry": Li Bai, pardoned and returning east, penned the timeless line "Leaving at dawn the White Emperor crowned with cloud"; Du Fu, residing in Kuizhou for nearly two years, left behind over 400 poems; and Liu Yuxi composed "Bamboo Branch Songs" while serving as the governor of Kuizhou. After the Three Gorges Reservoir was filled, the rising river level turned White Emperor Mountain into an isolated island in the high gorge's flat lake, accessible only via a long covered bridge. The Qutang Gorge stretches approx. 8 km in total. Though not the longest among the Three Gorges, it is renowned for its majestic and precipitous scenery. The gorge entrance, called Kuimen or Qutang Pass, features the sheer cliffs of Chijia Mountain and Baiyan Mountain standing opposite each other, abruptly narrowing the river. Here, the Yangtze forces its way through the pass, which has served as the vital waterway to and from Sichuan since ancient times. It also appears on the back of the fifth series CNY 10 banknote. While sailing through the gorge, visitors can spot the hanging coffins at Wind Box Gorge high on the cliffs, the orderly arranged Meng Liang's Ladder holes on Baiyan Mountain's precipice, and numerous cliff inscriptions. When visiting, consider first walking across the covered bridge to the island to explore the Tuogu Hall, stele forest, and Star Observation Pavilion, then head to the Kuimen viewing platform behind Baidi Temple—directly facing Kuimen, it offers the same perspective as depicted on the back of the CNY 10 banknote. Matching a bill with the actual view for photos has become a classic activity. To truly experience the canyon's narrowness and the river's rush, take a boat through Qutang Gorge—looking back at the cliffs from the water is far more awe-inspiring than viewing from the shore.Fengjie County · 12.7km from downtown

The Two Rivers Ferry is absolutely fantastic! The 15 yuan ticket is incredibly cost-effective! Here's a great route for families with kids: After visiting Jiefangbei and Kuixinglou, see Hongyadong during the day. If you're traveling with a 6-year-old and don't want to brave the crowds at Hongyadong at night, the stilted buildings during the day are just as beautiful. Afterward, take the Two Rivers Ferry to Danzishi, disembark, and explore Danzishi Old Street, Nanbin Road, and Xiahaoli. Then, take the light rail/bus or taxi back. The whole route is smooth and relaxing. The boat ride is novel and fun, and the kids especially loved it, remaining enthusiastic about exploring the shopping streets afterwards. At the pier, there's a large bowl of freshly cut watermelon for 10 yuan – watch it being cut right in front of you! It's sweet and refreshing. I highly recommend this route for families!

Overall experience was very good, a scenery was jaw dropping but very tiring. For families traveling with younger children, I would suggest not buying a combo ticket, as we were all spent after just seeing the three natural bridges and end up deciding not to go to the fissure gorge, this was due to the electric carts being suspended at the exit of the natural three bridges because the road was being repaired and we had to scale up almost 1 km by foot.

Before the various Yangtze River bridges, this was the main way for Chongqing residents to cross the river. Each carriage held about thirty people. When it wasn't crowded, the wait was about twenty minutes, and the crossing itself took about five minutes. A one-way trip cost 30 yuan, and a round trip 50 yuan. The experience was indeed quite unique. The only downside was that the windows were incredibly dirty!

My stay in Chongqing was fantastic! The hotel boasts a superb location, within walking distance of Eling No. 2 Factory and Liziba Viewpoint, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The rooms were spotless and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the amenities were complete. The free parking was a great convenience for travelers with cars. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in quick and easy, and patiently answering all my questions. Overall, it offered excellent value for money and is a top choice for any trip. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.

It's great in every way. The only starting point for the Three Gorges Summit hike is Baidi City, and the scenery is beautiful. Food and drinks on the mountain cost 10 yuan per serving. There are many steep uphill sections, and the hike is about 10 kilometers and takes about 6 hours. After the hike, there are local private cars available for 30 yuan per person to take you down the mountain from the high-speed rail station or other places.

Each person paid an extra 80 yuan to access the VIP area, where we sat at the bow of the boat. There were snacks, fruit, and drinks, along with a commentary and a face-changing performance. The night view from the boat was indeed excellent, especially in the VIP area where there was no need to squeeze with the crowds; everyone was right next to the side of the boat, allowing for photos anytime. The entire trip lasted 40 minutes. However, the journey to Hongyadong Wharf was incredibly congested, chaotic, and packed with people...

As the spotlight fell, red silk billowed from both sides of the stage, instantly enveloping the entire theater in a profound sense of history. When the actors playing revolutionaries, armed with wooden rifles, charged forward amidst the smoke and fire, an elderly man in the front row quietly wiped a tear from his eye. From the gunshots by the river, to that declaration that transcends over seventy years, every shout resonated with the audience's hearts. In the final scene, as the national flag was unfurled, the entire theater spontaneously erupted in applause. That deafening roar wasn't stage sound effects; it was the most direct empathy from everyone present for that groundbreaking era. This wasn't a distant story confined to books; it was the real, tangible footsteps of our forefathers.
