Things to do in Brevard

Fred W. Symmes Chapel

Since its completion in 1941, Sims Church has attracted many tourists with its unique charm. Locals also call it Pretty Place. The church was carefully designed by designer Maya Lin. Sims Church is famous for its simple and bright architectural style. Its characteristics are that its exterior walls and roof are made of wood, and there is a huge glass window inside, overlooking the mountains and beautiful natural scenery. The natural beauty around the church is like a picture scroll. Whether it is sunrise or sunset, it makes people feel the tranquility and beauty of heaven. The crossbeam of the church is engraved with a passage quoted from Psalm 121:1: "I WILL LIFT UP MY EYES TO THIS HILLS...", which means "I lift up my eyes to the mountains". This passage not only expresses the believers' piety to God, but also symbolizes people's yearning for a higher realm. Standing in the church and overlooking the surrounding mountains, it seems that you can really feel a sense of standing in heaven.
