Takachiho Gorge is a V-shaped gorge formed by the cooling and solidification of pyroclastic flows from the eruption of Mount Aso, followed by long-term erosion by the Gokase River. The banks are lined with steep cliffs approx. 80–100m high, where columnar joints are clearly visible. The emerald green river water and gray rock layers contrast with each other, creating a striking natural view. Manai Falls, located within the gorge, is approx. 17m high and is a representative view. Visitors can take a rowboat to enjoy the waterfall and cliffs up close from the water, or stroll along the approx. 1 km long trail to view the gorge scenery from different angles. There are viewing spots along the trail, including the Takachiho Three Bridges, where you can see the three arch bridges against the backdrop of the gorge. The Takachiho area has deep ties to Japanese mythology, and the rocks and waterfalls in the gorge are also associated with related legends. In spring and summer, the banks are lush with greenery; in the fall, the red leaves reflect on the emerald water, presenting different seasonal scenery. Boat tours are popular, so it is recommended to plan your time in advance if visiting during holidays.Takachiho · 22.7km from Aso District

Located in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Amaniwado Shrine has a story called "The Legend of Amaniwado". According to legend, Amaterasu, who symbolizes the sun, was so enraged by his younger brother's actions that he hid in a cave and could not come out, and the world became dark as a result. The gods met on the beach outside the Tianyan Cave, and the beautiful girls danced to amuse the gods. The sound of laughter spread into the cave, so that the God of Amaterasu couldn't help but open the door of the cave and stick his head out. . As a result, the gods had arranged for the Hercules outside the door for a day to make a decisive decision and pull out the Great God of Amaterasu. Since then, the earth has regained its light. Amano-Iwato Shrine was built near the cave where the legendary god Amaterasu hid, and the main hall of the shrine was built in the cave opposite the Iwado River. There is a solemn and sacred atmosphere everywhere in Amaniwato Shrine. People who come to worship here will pile up stone pagodas on the ground to pray. The mysterious atmosphere is very worth punchingTakachiho · 23.8km from Aso District

One of my favorite areas and attractions in Kitakyushu. The whole Aso area is beautiful. We were lucky enough to see horses in Kusasenri and go to the crater. It might be the off-season, but there were not many people in the view restaurant. You can sit as you like. It's so friendly. I want to bring my kids back in the summer to see the green scenery. I highly recommend Aso! You can also go to Kurokawa Onsen, which is great.

We recommend parent-child tours of Aso Farm Park I don't know if it's because it hasn't recovered after the epidemic or what, I can't see more than 50 people for 3 days and 2 nights. It's a good walk for such a large farm🤩 In addition to kissing the animals, there are many children inside Indoor facilities, adults can also cheap spa, worth coming again!

Even in the cloudy winter, it was still beautiful. When I first arrived in Aso, I thought Aso was a little small, but once I got here, I found a different Aso, so open. If I had time to wait for half an hour, the clouds would have dissipated, and the Aso Five Mountains would be right in front of me, and the rural village would be surrounded and protected by the mountains. It was so comfortable to walk and run in the grass. From the observatory, I found a trail going down all the way. I guess I can hike down the mountain from here. I walked in all directions and found several similar trails going down the mountain. I must come and experience it next time and enjoy the scenery from different heights and angles. It should be more beautiful in the summer when the grass is green.

What is very famous is that the trees here are very famous, there are the Father Cedar Tree and the Husband and Wife Tree, both of which are sacred trees over a hundred years old. The tour guide will explain to the guests how to enter the shrine and how to pray, so that people can have a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and etiquette.

【Japan/Kyushu/Miyazaki】-Ama Iwato Shrine By CoStudio Attraction: Ama Iwato Shrine Address: 1073 Iwato, Takachiho-cho, Nishi-Usuki-gun, Miyazaki Prefecture Features: Amato Cave, Taiko Bridge, Shichibonsugi Rating: 5/5 Comment: Ama Iwato Shrine is located in the Takachiho area of Miyazaki Prefecture in Kyushu and is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu. The shrine is most famous for the thousands of small stone pagodas that line the path between the shrine and the river. According to legend, Amaterasu, near the shrine, is where Amaterasu hides when he is depressed. If you like to explore natural beauty and mysterious atmosphere, then Ama Iwato Shrine is definitely an excellent choice, a dreamy scene.

One of my favorite parks placed in the city, Ohorikoen is quite massive, making it a good place for picnics, anytime strolls, jogging, and also has some swan boats for a fun ride in the lake during daytime. If you want to chill for a coffee there is Starbucks.
