The hotel is very comfortable and new, with a bathtub, and the service is excellent. Its central location makes it convenient to go anywhere. The breakfast is especially rich and healthy. The chef's service was very welcoming, and we were very satisfied with the facilities, equipment, and food. The hotel's pool offers stunning sunset views. The only minor drawback is the new hotel's renovation smell. Those sensitive to odors should consider this carefully.

Aside from the nice views, everything else was pretty mediocre. We stayed in room 7418, which was quite spacious and kid-friendly. It had both a bathtub and a shower. The TV had static, and the breakfast was the same every single day – at least for the 6 nights we stayed, it was the same few options. Surprisingly, there were no noodles at the club lounge restaurant. For any egg dishes, you had to specifically ask a waiter for the menu, otherwise, you wouldn't know they even had them. For 6 nights at the executive lounge, the alcohol wasn't self-serve; they only gave you a tiny bit each time. The service, from check-in to check-out, was pretty much non-existent. Housekeeping seemed to depend on the staff's mood; the first night the room was cleaned exceptionally well – I almost regretted not filming a full walkthrough. But the following days, the cleaning was very superficial.

Cons: The room was small, and the facilities were old and dated. The duvet and pillowcases were yellowish. Pros: It's very convenient for going out and dining, and there's a laundromat not far away. The front desk can also store luggage.

I booked through Trip.com and already paid the 10 MYR tourism tax, but the hotel still asked me to pay it again. They only dropped it after I showed them my booking confirmation. Everyone, please be careful not to get scammed! I've stayed in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Kota Kinabalu for two days each, and this was the first time I was asked to pay a tourism tax. The beds are a bit small at one meter, so it was a tight squeeze for a family of four. However, the hotel's location is convenient, and it shares a pool with The Magellan, which is only a ten-minute walk away. That's a great perk, considering The Magellan's rooms are about 300 MYR more expensive. The hotel's own beach and pool are pretty good and kept the kids entertained.

Very much satisfied with almost everything, especially the size of the room and proce. It's hard to get rooms this big with this rate nowadays. Comfortable. Good service. I do agree with other guests mentioning about water stains on the bathroom glass wall but it doesn't bother me that much. the hotel is a bit old I guess. the corner of the room has chipped wood. there's no tissue provided in the room, there's only rolled tissue in the bathroom. but overall im satisfied.

Before coming, I saw a lot of negative reviews, but after actually staying, it met my expectations for a Shangri-La. The online complaints mainly focused on two points: first, it's old, and second, there were renovations. I've stayed at the Shangri-La in Penang before, and the rooms in Kota Kinabalu and Penang are quite similar – a bit dated but within an acceptable range. The beachfront environment is lovely, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of delicious options, also comparable to the Penang Shangri-La. The renovations mentioned in the negative reviews are in the Tanjong Wing lobby area. The noise wasn't really an issue; you only hear it when passing by. Currently, all check-ins are handled at the Kinabalu Wing lobby, and the service is excellent, with luggage being delivered directly to your room. Also, my Trip.com booking didn't require a deposit. I booked a ground floor room with a terrace in the Kinabalu Wing. The terrace offers a partial sea view, not as direct as some of the central rooms in the Tanjong Wing, but still nice. Plus, there's a sofa bed, so it could actually accommodate three people. My only minor regrets are that the toilet was dripping slightly, and I couldn't find a hairdryer in any of the cupboards or shelves, which I assume housekeeping forgot to put back.

The rooms, renovated in '25, were a great experience. The bathroom facilities were comfortable to use. The hotel grounds are huge, with lots of sports facilities. I stayed at the hotel for two days and didn't even need to leave to have fun. I enjoyed the sea breeze by the ocean, saw all sorts of animals in the park, and played some tennis. My only regret is that I couldn't book a golf lesson this time, but I'll definitely come back for it!

The room is quite huge, comfy and clean. The plug point near to the beds is only one, so need to have a extension but there is plug point opposite of the bed. The toilet is okay, clean. Provided with the toiletries and slippers. There is also massage parlour downstairs, can make payment by cards

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

SSiniyansiTraveled with my bestie, and I booked this hotel specifically because I loved the look of the bathtub 🛁. First, the positives: The service was attentive, and there was even a Chinese butler, though most staff primarily spoke English. The environment was fantastic; the pool and beach loungers were clean and comfortable. In the afternoon, they'd restock snacks and drinks in our room, and we could choose what we wanted, which was a great touch. The sunsets were beautiful, but if you're serious about sunset photos, I'd recommend Tanjung Aru; it's more photogenic there. We originally booked the Garden Wing but got upgraded to the Ocean Wing. The Ocean Wing was quiet with fewer people, whereas the Garden Wing was much too crowded. For breakfast, I ate at the Ocean Wing on the first day. It was mainly à la carte with fewer options at the buffet. The second day, I tried the Garden Wing; it was packed with people, but they had more buffet variety. However, replenishment wasn't always timely, and the coffee machine was a bit slow to respond, taking ages to get going. The food and drinks at the Sampan Sunset Bar were a bit pricey, and the cocktails weren't particularly good. I'd recommend sticking to beer there, but the ambiance was amazing for photos. The bathtub wasn't perfectly clean, which I can understand since some small leaves tend to drift in. It's best to rinse it out yourself before using it. The 4 PM late check-out was incredibly thoughtful and convenient!!!!! They also provide shuttle service to the airport or city malls. Overall, the experience was great. The service and facilities are definitely worth the price.

AAkmaaalI recently stayed at Sutera@Mantanani for a-night, and it was magnificent an unforgettable island experience. The room was spacious enough for both of us! WE ARE SO HAPPY that they provides everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, and safety deposit boxes. There’s no need to worry about bringing toiletries or coping with the island heat, as all essentials are thoughtfully provided, making it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the island experience. We spent the morning watching the sunrise and the tide coming in with the clean ocean and beautiful Mount Kinabalu.Other than that they also have kayak rentals, and there is many activities we have done such as sunset walk, ATV, volley ball with other guest, and a romantic night with a bon fire and skies full of stars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially during the boat transfer from Rampayan Jetty, they helped us load our luggage, AND they also very helpful in explaining the trip itinerary, ensuring guests could manage their time well and make the most of their stay, while also clearly informing us of rules and safety guidelines to ensure everyone’s well-being. Meals were served buffet-style in the resort’s open-air dining area, with fresh local seafood, grilled fish, nasi lemak, and tropical fruits, breakfast included eggs, toast, and local pastries. We appreciated that the chef accommodated a vegetarian request without issue. Overall, Sutera@Mantanani is a perfect island retreat, and I would came back here and highly recommend it to couples, families, or anyone seeking a quiet, nature-filled getaway.

TTravelwithBamThe staff friendliness is just amzing 10/10. Excellent Service. Our room had amazing view of the sea and opposite resort called Gayana. Dinner: Only Buffet option is available and its about RM167/person +taxes. The spread are fairly good and it is delicious. Though they do have 2 more different Restaurant in the island,Japanese and fine dining. Breakfast: Included in the room price. Menu changes daily. I have nothing to complaint about the room, for us its comfortable. All rooms have exactly the dane Designs the only difference is where it is located. You are paying for the view. Activities: For me I think 3 days 2 nights are perfect to spend your time here, swimming by the pool, kayaking, snorkling,Jungle trekking, visiting the private beach. 1 hour complimentary use of snorklinh masks. I like the public guests showers and towel provided.Very convinient. One thing that I would like to comment is the boat fees are relatively very expansive.15 mins speedboat per person one way cost about Rm80+taxes..Just return trip cost RM170++ per person. This is not even including island conservation fees and tourist fees. All this added fees makes the Hotel cost more expansive. Because a boat trip to nearby or same Island cost only Rm40. GAYANA ECO RESORT provided inclusive/complimentary return boat fees. I hope the Management can improve this because we as Guests are going to spend more money on F&B and at the Bar. Last but not least I would like to compliment the service and staffs in thsi Resort I think they did such an amazing job. Overalö the Resort is beautiful andclose to the nature.

CChanyiZenThe food at the resort was decent, and the dishes looked appetizing, though some were a bit too spicy and salty for my taste. The afternoon tea included fries, which were particularly delicious. During peak dining hours, food replenishment was a bit slow, but they did manage to keep up eventually. The room itself was quite spacious, featuring a private pool and a net bed. The hairdryer worked exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the shower's hot water wasn't working, so I had to use the bathtub's showerhead for a hot rinse – thankfully, the water heater itself was fine. I also found that only two towels were provided, which felt a bit sparse. The internet signal was good and the speed was decent. On another note, the potted plants along the wooden boardwalk were overgrown, with some branches sticking out, making it a bit difficult to walk and posing a slight risk of scratches. Overall, the resort's service was excellent; everyone was very enthusiastic and proactive in resolving any issues. The surrounding environment was beautiful, with virtually unobstructed views, perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset. Experiencing an overwater bungalow in Semporna here was definitely a good choice.
