"Even though this hotel isn't a villa resort, everything was impeccable. It's incredibly busy, yet perfectly managed. The dinner, in particular, was absolutely amazing, easily comparable to a Michelin-starred experience. Chef MAEDA's menu was incredibly thoughtful, with dishes that excelled in color, aroma, and taste, using top-notch ingredients. He even came out frequently to check on guest satisfaction, which was a lovely touch. It's truly worth revisiting! The private onsen in the room was so comfortable; we used it several times a day, soaking while enjoying the sea view. ♨️"

"Nagahama is the only station on the Hokuriku Main Line that borders Lake Biwa (Hikone and Yonehara are not lakeside), and this hotel is located in Nagahama Port, a five-minute walk away, which isn't far. The hotel rooms face north and south, ensuring all rooms have lake views. The hotel has a public bath and an indoor observation deck (facing south) on the seventh floor, already a high point on the lake, offering excellent views in the mornings and evenings. It overlooks Lake Biwa on three sides (east, south, and north), and Mount Ibuki to the west. The hotel is conveniently located near the Lake Biwa ferry and boats to Chikubu Island. The rooms retain the decor of the bubble economy era and are very clean. Despite the high occupancy rate, the corridors were not noisy. Service was impeccable; everything was provided. While I don't particularly want to comment on value for money, compared to the thousands of yuan for lake-view rooms in Otsu and Kosei online, this place truly offers great value for money. Thanks to the hotel for providing such a relaxing night. I came here because of the song ”Shuhang of Lake Biwa,” and I truly saw the scenery described in the lyrics at the hotel. Hopefully, this affordable hotel with a view can continue to exist."

"Biwako Ryokusuitei was an absolute treat. We had a bit of a wobble at Ogoto-Onsen station as I couldn't find a phone, but luckily we spotted the hotel shuttle. The driver was lovely and made us feel welcome right from the off. The reception staff were brilliant, really friendly and gave us a proper run-through of the place. Housekeeping was spot on too they were right on the ball and had our tatami mats all ready for us while we were away at dinner. The real stars, though, were the dining staff. They were incredibly professional and took the time to explain exactly what we were eating and how to enjoy each dish. Both breakfast and dinner were top-notch 😋I'm still thinking about that food now! A proper (home away from home) experience"

"The location is very quiet and calm. For those who want a break from the main cities this place is highly recommended. The hotel picked us up from the nearby station and the communication was very active and accommodating (I emailed them when we were in Kyoto station in advanced and once we reached the local station, their shuttle was already waiting for us 🥹). Biwako Valley is near so it was our only planned big activity in the area aside from walking along the quiet road and trying convenience store food and using the 24 hour laundry place nearby. The food is very healthy and you will experience traditional Japanese service (they prepared colorful Yukatas for us and we wore them for bfast and dinner in their restaurant) . The private onsen was great and you can also use the public bath in the hotel itself. I cannot list everything but our experience here was truly amazing!"

"Booked this stay to explore the areas around Lake Biwa. Reception was warm and friendly with an English-speaking host who provided us with the information for the stay. We booked the western style room as we preferred an attached bathroom, however the room condition was outdated and needs refurbishment, like peeling surfaces. The Japanese style room looked better when we caught a glimpse during check-out time. Nevertheless, location and amenities were great. This ryokan is located on the shores of Lake Biwa, Japan’s lake, offering open and expansive views from the large public bath and lobby. For dinner, guests can enjoy a Japanese kaiseki meal prepared with seasonal ingredients. The annex, “Kyo-Oumi,” features VIP rooms, each with a private open-air hot spring bath, offering a view that feels as if you are floating on Lake Biwa. The facility also includes a convenience store, spa, coffee lounge, and other well-equipped public spaces. Complimentary shuttle bus service is available to and from JR Ogoto Onsen Station.

"We stayed one night at Biwako Grand Hotel Kyoomi and had a generally relaxing experience. The traditional tatami room was comfortable and suitable for staying with a young child. The hotel has a classic Japanese ryokan atmosphere, and the area near Lake Biwa is very peaceful. Staff were polite and helpful, and the shuttle service was convenient. Breakfast was simple but acceptable. One suggestion is that it would be appreciated if room arrangements could better match the photos shown on the booking page, as this would help set clearer expectations. Overall, a calm stay for travelers seeking a traditional experience."

"We welcome you to our inn for a relaxing bath." At the foot of Mt. Otani, this secret hot spring quietly gushes forth, and even Azai Nagamasa visited for a therapeutic bath. It is said that samurai from the Warring States period bathed in the water to heal their wounds, and it is said to have medicinal properties. "Hospitality with local delicacies and seasonal flavors" The cuisine that welcomes you is kaiseki cuisine, which conveys the colors of the seasons to your eyes and tongue. You will be able to savour the taste of the seasons, with local delicacies added. Please enjoy delicious moments of bliss. "Memorable relaxation" A relaxing space for you to spend your holidays, with a Japanese-style elegant atmosphere, rooms with open-air baths, comfortable rooms with jacuzzis, Japanese-style rooms, and more. Make the most of every day of your trip.

"The room hotel is clean and tidy and has good value for money, but the hotel is located in a remote location. The kaiseki cuisine for breakfast and dinner is very good, including Omi beef, which is very enjoyable. It is a good hotel choice."

Thank you very much to Ctrip customer service Saga. I contacted him after I got on the train from Kyoto to Hikone and asked the hotel to pick me up. He solved the problem as fast as lightning, accurately, efficiently and with high quality! The public transportation from Kyoto to Hikone takes about an hour. When I arrived, I found the hotel's transportation bus accurately and clearly according to the notification. I was picked up by myself. The journey took five minutes. It was in the direction of Hikone Castle. It was not recommended to walk with luggage. It would be more tiring. If you take a taxi, it would cost about 700 yen. Half of the hotel room faces the castle and the other half has no view. The scenery facing the castle is very beautiful. I checked in on April 2, 2025. The cherry blossoms will be in full bloom after April 10. My room on the top floor of the 5th floor faces the castle tower, and the scenery is first-class. The room is not big. The other bed is attached to the wall and it is inconvenient to go up and down. It is just right for one person to live. The bathroom has been renovated. The room style is more old-fashioned, not old. The room without a view on the other side is smaller, and the check-in experience is poor. I booked a one-night stay and two meals, and Japanese cuisine for dinner. I think the quality is very good, but the duck hot pot tastes average, and the overall sincerity is full. The breakfast is simpler, there is no hot spring egg, but there are all kinds of freshly fried vegetable tempura. The breakfast is worse than that of Ogoto Ryokusuitei, and the dinner is about the same level. They are all hotels that cook very carefully, so you can rest assured to choose the meal package. The lounge has beer and juice, but no snacks. The male and female hot spring baths are not changed. The female baths are 38.5 degrees and 42.5 degrees, so one is too cold and the other is too hot. 41 degrees is better. The reason for giving one star for hygiene is: I found a green Japanese-style outer coat with oil spots and changed it to a purple flower one. This is the decision I regret the most, which means that it should not be worn without washing. After taking a hot spring bath in the afternoon, I put it on and drank tea in the room. I felt that it smelled bad. I picked up the outer coat and smelled it. I almost didn't send it away. The stench made me rush to the bathroom to vomit. It was the stench of people with severe bad breath sneezing several times at the clothes. This kind of clothes is not like a yukata. It is not changed for each guest. It is very unhygienic. The slipper cabinet is also smelly, and the slippers are a little sticky on the floor. I went to the hot spring again to wash it again and change into my own clothes, but the feeling of nausea was difficult to eliminate. The hotel will pick you up at the station at 9, 10, or 11 in the morning, and the staff are courteous and considerate.

The breakfast is very good and the hot spring experience is also very good. There was no one when I went there, it was just a charter. The location is right by the lake, comfortable and quiet, there is a 7-11 next to it, you can do some simple purchases. The owner of the hotel is a kind and amiable grandmother, who can recommend local activities to us in simple English. I am very grateful to her for taking care of her for a few days.
