"There is a large public bath, but it was smaller than it appears in the photos. I went at a less crowded time, so I had the place almost to myself and was able to relax.
The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options, and the menu changed slightly over the two days, which was delicious. When there were many guests, it took a while to replenish the food when it was running low.
The petit cakes, sweets, and free drinks provided in the evening were very soothing."

"I was suspicious because of the low price, but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived (Family room, 5000 yen/night). Breakfast was included, the room was modern and spotless, and as expected from a hot spring town, the public bath's water was superb. Plus, there was a barrel-shaped sauna where you could do your own *Löyly*, which is a dream for sauna lovers. However, the temperature takes a while to get really hot, so you might need to stay in there a bit longer."

"Upon our arrival, we're greeted with great staff members, who take our shoes and away and provide us slippers to wear during our entire stay.
The dinner was exquisitely served as a big course composed of various several side dishes and main items. We were just blown away.
So we came back to the room after dinner to find out that the futon beds, Japanese style mattress & beds, were set up for us to relax and sleep.
The breakfast is just a bit less sophisticated but still much more than we could eat, yet impressive for us in terms of the effort required to make them.
Same with upon our departure, our shoes are placed back at the lobby orientated readily for us to wear. It just shows Japanese highly attentive level of detail in terms of hospitality.
Although the location is its downside, even if you don't have a rental car, I still highly recommend it if you can find a way there."

"I visited this hotel based on a friend's recommendation, but I was sorely disappointed. There was absolutely no trace of the Japanese-style service I was expecting; it felt just like any other ordinary hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were terrible, and the light meal options were incredibly sparse. My friend mentioned that when it first opened two years ago, the service was excellent. I'm not sure if they started taking tour groups, but it was very crowded, and the soundproofing in the rooms was poor. I had to call the front desk twice in the middle of the night because of noisy neighbors before it was resolved. Given that it was Valentine's Day, the price was exorbitant and definitely not worth it. Plus, one of the three private onsens was under maintenance that day. I would have been much better off staying at one of the high-concentration sulfur hot spring hotels in Manza instead."

"It should be regarded as the best hotel in Yixiangbao. It has a history of more than 400 years, but it does not feel old. Several soups are great. The service staff are professional and thoughtful. The small robot in the lobby is super cute. There is a small restaurant on the 19th floor to the entrance and exit of the stone steps, three private rooms, open at 8-11 every night, fried dumplings and ramen are delicious. The people in this place are friendly and hospitable. Udon noodles are local specialties, and each one is delicious; the ancestral stone pot curry rice of the Black Boat House is particularly delicious; Sara's Terrace Arraiya 's package is very homely; Lungo's own roasted coffee is the best to drink, with a bunch of rice cakes is too fragrant! The matcha shop next to the ladder is already very popular, but the clerk is so enthusiastic. When I fell down, I immediately took the first aid kit and ran out to deal with the wound. I was moved! The nearby original gallery is also worth a visit, in a pasture with lots of sheep."

LLilingshuchiThe entire hot spring town is absolutely beautiful. Since it was newly renovated in 2024, there was no musty smell in the room. The staff were professional, polite, and warmly welcoming without being intrusive, and their English was excellent. There's a shuttle service from the hotel to the station, or you can walk there yourself. This hotel is exactly what I imagined a Japanese onsen hotel to be. The hotel's own hot springs are fantastic. The location is truly the best – some hotels are up in the mountains or require a bit of a walk, but Ichii offers direct views of Yubatake. On the first floor, there's also a large souvenir shop with many unique items that aren't available back home. I'd definitely choose to spend a whole day exploring Karuizawa and then stay at Ichii again!

TThai traveler KEverything about our stay at Kusatsu Boun Hotel was perfect. The room appeared to have been very recently renovated—it looked brand new, yet still retained a strong sense of traditional Japanese charm and essence. It was also clean, modern, and very comfortable. The only mild minus point is that the 2 TVs using inside the suites are of the same model and brand thus they share the same remote signal.
The service was outstanding throughout our stay. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They also accommodated our limitations and requests with great care, which made us feel truly appreciated.
One of the highlights was the onsen facilities. The hotel offers three spacious public baths sourced from two different hot springs (Nishi-kawara and Bandai), making the bathing experience both unique and relaxing. In addition, our room included a private bath of a very good size, allowing us to enjoy the onsen in complete privacy.
The food was also excellent, adding another highlight to an already wonderful stay.
Overall, an exceptional stay. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kusatsu.

CChayaphol LeeraphanteThe hotel is very popular among the Japanese traveller. Lots of Japanese with very limited foreign traveller. The communication can be a bit difficult at the hotel.
The room were cleaned but there is limitation of daily cleaning of the room. They only take trash out and change towels. The policy is to clean the room every 4 days.
When the hotel is fully occupied, there is a problem with the scarcity of hot water. We have to wait for hot water to be reproducing 2 out of 3 nights we stayed.
The buffet is very crowded and the food are pretty much the same for all 3 nights we stayed for both breakfast and dinner. Our highlights are the crab and the beef station for dinner and the live onigiri station for breakfast.

GGuest UserKinchoro is the more exclusive wing of Fuikuichi. The rooms come sight private onsen and it’s similar to most 10 tatami rooms.
The service from the staff is good. They are almost invisible when you don’t need them but will magically appear when you need help, during meal times and check in/out time.
The food unfortunately seem to be so so only. I didn’t find it spectacular, and in fact fringing on being a bit too inventive. Otherwise, all okay.

GGuest UserI happened to not expect much in the reservation on the day, but I was very impressed with the warm welcome and easy-to-understand guide.
It's a bit old, but it's quite clean. I was happy that there were cartoons and table tennis tables.
It was easy to go out because there was a car pick-up to the stone steps, and thanks to that, I went out at night for the first time to Ikaho, who had been there many times. It was beautiful!
There is an interesting public telephone in the inn, so look at it when you go!
