To be honest considering this has a 4 star rating I'm a bit disappointed. Generally speaking it is a nice place but there are small things that are lacking compared to other similar Onsen Hotels at the same price. For example they don't provide a basket to go to the onsen but only a cheap plastic bag.
The Hotel itself is very old but well maintained and at least the general spaces use nice materials and decoration. Once you reach the room it becomes worse. The materials used in the room are very cheap (Vinyl Floor, Cheap Wallpaper that was put on very poorly). Some aspects of the room have been refurnished, like the sink but most of it seems to be original from the 60s-80s. The bathtub and Toilet are retro models.
The Onsen baths are a mixed bag - the one on the third floor with Wood ceiling seems to be the newest and is the best of the three. The other two (panorama and first floor) are in dire need of refurbishing. They seem in very bad condition and extremly old.
The worst part (for me) was the Breakfast. 90% of the selection was japanese Style (and even that seemed poor). Western Options were only Pancakes, French Toast (which was good at least) and a few sad pieces of low quality bread with condiments. They didn't even have a coffee machine!!! Only pre-brewed coffee that tasted like water.
Less than a 5-minute walk from the train and bus stations. Be aware that the hotel sign displays the English name, not the Chinese name as translated on the booking. The room was clean and well-equipped, just as expected.
The third time staying in this hotel over the past 5 years. Disappointingly, no improvement was seen, particularly the quality of food presumably to be of high quality for luxurious rooms with private onsen. Routinized Japanese Haute cuisine with no surprise, four small pieces of signature Hida wagyu could only be seen as a decoration. Yet the price was relatively high with over five hundred US dollars for a two-person one night stay (breakfast and dinner included). The service, the food, the environment, etc. require considerable improvement.
You can see the hotel right after turning right from the station, which makes getting around super convenient.
Breakfast options were limited, and I didn't use the public bath.
The front desk was helpful with luggage storage. However, they overcharged me for the accommodation tax, but thankfully, they noticed their mistake and contacted me proactively to issue a refund.

[Good points]
- Well-equipped bathing facilities
- Massage chairs available for free
[Points to note]
- The hotel is visible from JR Gifu Station, but it is a little far away
[Overall review]
Dormy Inn hotels have a wide range of bathing facilities, so you can use them with peace of mind. I was tired from traveling, so I was grateful to be able to use the massage chair for free for 15 minutes after bathing.
I love this hotel!
1) The view from the hotel is so beautiful. Even inside the Onsen.
2) The customer service is very nice. A very relaxing place.
3) Breakfast is delicious and there is a very nice garden where you can take photos.
Highly recommended.
The hotel has a nice surrounding environment with beautiful scenery, mainly mountain views, with red autumn leaves against a blue sky. The hot springs are also good. However, the location is a bit remote, only suitable for self-driving tours. Moreover, it does not provide catering services. If you want to eat, you have to drive more than ten minutes to Nakatsugawa City to find a place. You must plan ahead for this.
The waiter was very friendly
Wifi is weak
There are only 2 positions in the ladies bath, which are relatively small and have to be arranged.
Wireless power is not strong
The refrigerator can't open
The dehumidifier is a bit dirty
Good variety at breakfast and the view at breakfast room was beautiful. Free parking facility is next to the hotel, no shelter walkway but able to accommodate many cars. Room was clean and big and had all essentials. Unfortunately did not get to try the onsen but i'm sure it would have been nice.
This hotel is definitely worth recommending! They knew we were staying for two nights, so they varied the breakfast and dinner offerings, which was a nice touch. Just like the day before, each room comes with a private onsen. If you're looking for privacy, a romantic space with your partner, and the opportunity to take some intimate photos in the hot spring, this place is absolutely the perfect choice.

GGuest UserA basic hotel with all the necessary amenities for daily use. Ideal for travelers taking the train to/from Ena Station before or after the Nakasendo Trail. The small town offers a pleasant stroll with a few hidden gems to discover. Good for a simple, convenient stay.
